Been awhile since I posted on your build. It's looking good so far. A new/bigger shop to work in is gonna be nice. Have the builder put in tall side walls for when you add that lift for your oil changes. Tell the wife you can sell your creeper

Thanks! Haha I think I'll be right about 12' walls in there. Should be enough should I go that route some day.

The truck is looking great!

Yes you 100% want a lift. Any time I have to do maintenance on my cars I take them to work and use the lift. It will spoil you but is a great investment.

I feel like its been forever since I've done anything on the truck. I also feel like it's been far to long with no post here. Unfortunately I don't really have any progress to report other than the truck nested away in the back of the sea can. I realise it was probably not smart to put a foosball table on the hood but I didn't have room for it anywhere else. The hood already needs some work so I'm sure it won't be the end of the world.

And with that, it is official. No work will be happening on the truck now until I can get it into the new garage. I'm guessing it will be about 2 years at least before it gets there. It is going to suck not being able to do anything for that long but it is going to be so nice to have the new shop. All I can do now is hope and pray that I don't end up with a bunch of surface rust on all the bare metal areas of the cab. It's been sitting in my garage for years with bare metal and I have hardly seen any surface rust so hopefully the sea can will be no different. Although my garage was heated and the sea can is not.....

Still needing to finish up some things around the house and finish moving the rest of our stuff out before we sell. I'll try not to be too much of a stranger around here. Thanks everyone for following along this far.

I had thought about using a product like that but I'm not sure how that would work with the bodywork I've started. I feel like it could soak into the filler and cause me paint issues down the road. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. I have a habit of doing that 😂

Yeah

It's kind of the worse of 2 evils.

Rust or sand the filler later.

I have been in the same place just not to your extent.

I have a tenancy to overthink some stuff also

Sorry to see this back burnered but I do hope you have some decent ventilation in the sea-can as they can produce condensation inside like crazy as the temperatures swing and the seasons change.

Yeah I'll be keeping a close eye on it. It has been out there for almost a year before we filled it up and I have been checking in on it every now and again and it always felt really dry in there. Here's hoping.

The house is sold! We will breaking ground on the new one in the spring when the ground thaws. I am working on a rendering of the new house. The green shows up disgusting on here. I promise it won't be that gross when we build.

Thanks! I finally get to have a bit of a breather after moving and getting the house ready to sell for the last 2-3 months.

Another couple of things taken care of before the build starts. I needed something a little bigger to be able to haul my tools to and from the house once construction begins. This led me to an enclosed trailer which will be perfect and that then snowballed into deciding it was time to let my 2017 Silverado go so that I could get something a little more family orientated. I traded it in for a 2017 Yukon Denali and am loving it! I have been popping into the sea can every now and then to see how the bare metal on the cab is doing and so far so good.

It's nice and dry in the sea can. Still no change to the bare metal on my cab so that is good news. We just picked up our approved building permit today and we have a contractor scheduled to break ground a month from tomorrow. It's getting exciting!

The basement has been staked out! Digging is set to begin the week of May 5th.

I went to a local show last weekend with my dad and my uncle, chewychevy67 and also my 3 almost 4 year old daughter and she had a blast! I'll throw in a few pictures from the show. Most of them were taken by Daphne so the perspective is a little different.

We will have a garage slab next week and I have got the floor joists all standing and almost ready for sheathing. Just a few small blocks to install yet. Tomorrow I want to get the landing in and maybe some sheets on.

Wow! You do things different up there. You are building down. I have to build up. Where I am building, I cannot put living area at ground level. So the first floor will be all garage.
