Nice improvement. Looks really custom while also looking almost stock.

I smoothed my firewall and fixed minor holes in the floor. I also installed my sway bar and ram style exhaust manifolds.

It looks like you just welded in that upper radiator 'retaining' plate? If that's correct, how does the radiator slip into place & stay secure?

Scoti It looks like it's the the ends of the radiator that's welded and not the plate. I like his idea, just courise as to how he's going to retain it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I drilled holes in the holder and the side covers hold it in place. The truck is apart so I really can't take any pictures of it at this time. I was going to drill some small holes on the back side of the radiator bracket and put some small screws in the backside to hold it to the hold down. I also removed the lower mount brackets and used long bolts so I could move the radiator up. I might have something bent for the lower also. It i all up in the air. I have since painted the hold down but some dirt got in it. Still dosn't look to bad. Either that or have a Stainless one bent up. The one in the picture cost me $7 at the heating and air place and a stainless one is about $21. I think this pictures shows the back lip on the radiator.

This weekend I did my seasonal oil change and battery charge. Changed the trans pan gasket and gave it new fluid. Cut and mocked up my lf patch panel and did a little dent repair.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

This weekend I drove mine to town and got a truck load of mulch. I got home with it and the nephew came over to help me shovel it out. Spent most of the rest of the day getting on his @$$ for being too rough on the bed floor with a rake.

The load of mulch mad the back end of my truck set even with the front....I kinda liked it...made the wheels in my head start turning.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Going to be driving in the rain at night for a bit, so went out and coated the windshield with Rain-X. Makes a world of difference in these old trucks with marginal wipers.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Using the Van Pershing Idea Page how to article (thank you Persh!), I installed door jamb switches tonight to operate the dome light when the doors open. Here's the link for anyone interested:

http://www.persh.org/pickup/DomeLight.htm

It's relatively simple, and thankfully the switch part number SW98 was included, because everything else I looked at was too short to bridge the gap between the door and the jamb. Autozone was the only place I could find them, and they remain $1.99 each.

I'll get the wires tied in to the dome harness tomorrow, and I'm also going to be ordering one of the clear dome lenses from LMC. I'll post night time before and after photos of the light output once I have the new lens, if there's enough improvement to be seen in a photograph.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

The link is good, it's just offline at the moment. He must have very poor server support, about every other time I try one of his links the site is down. If history repeats itself the link should be working again in a few hours.

For anyone that might have been trying to access the above link, his website got hacked and has been offline since early Saturday. It's now back up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got the dome lights wired up to the door switches, and installed a toggle switch to kill the circuit should we want to sit in the summer heat with the doors open. Also installed a glove box light, primarily for the spring which helps pop the glove box door open. Apparently Chevys had a hinge spring, but I don't believe these were offered on GMC's (at least I've never seen one). Also included a toggle switch to shut off the glove box light for those evenings when we're out on a date, and use the inside of the glove box door for a food and drink tray.

I also just checked the Persh link and it's still offline. His information is helpful, but the server support he gets can be a little frustrating.

Nothing big. Took it out of the garage for the first time in 6 or 7 months. It started right up, gotta love that!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Wait, you did this swap over the weekend with the dog house and motor still in/on the truck??!!?? Um... will you fly out and do mine too! I want to do this swap but I can't fathom how it can be done over the weekend, what did you do to prepare for that tight time line? I drive my truck daily and after have done a motor swap recently my wife won't be to please if I have to decommission it for more than a weekend again.
