Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Thank you for the sharing your build. I am currently preparing to do something similar with a 72 Suburban body and a 2000 Suburban frame. I really appreciate your information although I will be honest it somewhat scared me as I will be trying to get mine mated up and running this summer. I saw that you part out late model trucks and I have an assorted list of needs to complete my chassis. The previous owner removed the fuel tank and cut the fuel lines, cut out the cats, which I am planning on using and for some reason took the drive shaft. It is a 2000 4wd Suburban so if you have any surplus I would rather give you my money than a salvage yard. Could also use a good 5.3 vortec. I used to live in Memphis and reading your board made me remember the many good people there, keep up the good work.

I don't have much left; axles, trans, transfer cases, front hubs and controls arms, steering, and misc new body parts. Sorry.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

What can I say that has not already been uttered by everyone who sees this. WOW

Do you still have a couple extra air handlers that you need to get rid of? I love the idea of using production parts and saving money. That is what has kept me from installing one of the aftermarket systems.

Thanks,

I only have part of one I used for mock up, but they are plentiful in junkyards and never get sold cause they don't really break, (cheap).

Yeah, bondo prison!!!

I kept the doors and fenders because I can finish them off soon.

I kept the bed to see if this guy actually does any good, if so I'll swap the cab for the bed and try to keep him motivated.

Hey, he drives a white 88-98. Must be a decent guy.

Edit: Wait, I guess just the bed is white...is that bad if your body guy's truck is two different colors?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I stayed away from these forums for quite some time (the projects one), mostly because I spent way too much time looking at projects and I was just floored when I saw this about a month ago and how quickly the whole project came together! It took a long time to get through it all but it was worth it. Sucks you gotta send the cab out, hopefully it will be back real soon.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

With all the priming and blocking still to do on the outside,... Do you wish you would have waited to paint the interior after the outside was ready?
Better hope the new guy is good about masking everything off.

I have had enough pain with raw or semi raw metal and surface rust starting. I sure don't want to send it out that way.

Happy Easter everyone. Take time to thank God for providing a way for us to live eternally with him in heaven and recommit your belief in Jesus.

Don't quote me on this, but I think I have found the last of the dents in these 3 panels and will be able to prime, block, and seal soon.

You know, I thought this was a straight original panel suburban to begin with... hard to imagine this leaving the factory 40 something years ago with all those imperfections...

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Understand the pain of the process man.... When my project got started I thought I might even get away without a paint job on it! Needless to say it's going to very qualified shop now & it's gonna take quite a bit of time & money to get it right. There's a point you sometimes go past in a project where it's just pointless not to go all the way with it. I hope yours turns out ho you're hoping & look forward to seeing the pics!
