Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Here's my new project. 1953 GMC Fire Truck with 6,188 original miles on it. It was sitting in the barn since 1991 when my grandpa put it there. He gave it to me for free. There is ZERO rust anywhere on the truck, so I'm going to get it running and driving and leave it alone.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
This fire truck is soo sick. For one your grandpa gave it to you. 2. it was a community fire truck and for 3. its a big bolt GMC. SO sick. You should def restore that.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks guys! I really want to keep the paint the way it is. I don't want to have to try to replicate the lettering and striping. It's still sitting in South Dakota and I should have it back this weekend. So I'm gonna do some serious cleaning and see what everything looks like. It is actual mileage, and it really is completely rust free which is amazing.

Very cool firetruck, talk about patina, plenty of it. Just clean it up and give it a tune and cruise. Could haul a lot of stuff with that deck.

Like everything about it cept ... the emblems & front & rear lighting choices. Other than that - it's perfect!

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I really like the idea of making an old truck more modernized using Cadillac parts, but those headlights don't quite work with the curvy lines of the truck. I think the tail lights look pretty cool though. I'd still drive it!

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
ahhh I def wanted to hold my comments. I like the creativity and time involved, BUT I just don't think it flows right with this truck at all, especially the back window. Personally if it were anything but an AD truck, I might be more open to it. there is a time and place for new but really I think some people go too far with it. I like an old truck to look old, patina or painted I like it to look its part. I like customization, but sometimes less is def more. again cool to see something different, thats why I do support true "rat rods" if you are trying to go for the extreme. I'm sure this will open a whole can of worms. The engine bay is dope that is for sure. I could see robo cop rolling out of this though, that would be cool.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
It's not my style but it's well done. The headlights go better with truck than the tail lights but the ceter third brake light is a stretch. The back window does bring it up to date, great custom truck.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Oh should have mentioned, I'd never put a caddy emblem on a TRUCK, let a lone a chevy truck, something that has actually worked and helped pave the way for our country, and others. Caddy is not symbolic with work IMO.

Partial is right, haha, hey at least you have it and someday it will rock. Took me 5 years on my last truck, glad this 71 didn't take that long to get this far. Your truck is the type I learned to drive in, always remember that.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Yea it took me about 2 months to have it sitting like that and ive got it sitting on a 79 K2500 under the body of that old truck. hopefully next weekend ill be getting a different cab(im getting an old grain truck with minimal rust and good doors and fenders for $500 i think thats a good deal compared to what the people on craigslist think the rusted out cabs are worth), plus im in college now so my time to work on it is limited i hope to have it done by summer so i can show it off at school. Be the best looking truck at NWMSU
