Re: My 57 Pro Street
I can appreciate the work you have done so far on the cab. I'm at the same stage with smoothing seams. Great build.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Spent a few hours reading back your whole build...did someone allready said you are a true Craftsman???
I learned a lot only from looking at your pics! It's like a book you must have when you have a TF truck!! So, keep building, so I can read it with pleasure!! Great truck!!!

Re: My 57 Pro Street
A little up-date.
Been getting into the body work. I have the cab tilted on its back so it's a little easier to work on the roof. I welded up the over hang and filled it in. Then to the roof itself. It was in pretty decent shape. A couple pics after epoxy and a little sanding. You can see it needs a little work. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
I got some Slick Sand.
This stuff is really thick but makes it easy to get the whole surface covered. I hit with some 80 grit and then used dry guide coat. This stuff went on real easy and gets into the finest of scratches. A lot more sanding and then another couple coats of epoxy and it looks pretty good. Will have do do a final sanding and then seal before paint. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Looking really good Kim. Just a question because I'm at a similar state on my build, but why more epoxy over the slick sand rather than go straight to sealer? Jim - I'd hope you remember those days, you've been living them for quite some time now haven't you

Re: My 57 Pro Street
It's made by Evercoat.
I found it on Amazon for $60.00 a gallon with the hardener. Quote:

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Good looking progress on your roof. I love SlickSand - I'm just a couple of years away from needing it on my project! Have you decided on a paint color?

Re: My 57 Pro Street
I have been using Urofill, not as thick a build up as Slickcoat, but thicker than regular primer, and compatible with 2K sealer.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim, I am glade to see you are making progress, thank you for your comments on my project. I see you are using a dry guide coat are you wet or dry sanding and can you do both?

Not sure how wet sanding would work with the dry guide coat. It may just rinse it off. As you can tell I'm new at this part of the build. It isn't the most fun part of the build but it keeps me out of trouble. Waiting for the weather to get a little warmer so I can get back at it. Kim |

Another point about block sanding that can lead to mistakes is this. Let the sand paper do the work. In other words don't muscle and push down hard while sanding. Just let the black guide across the panel in an x pattern. Applying pressure will lead to problems. Last edited by Kabwe; 01-06-2015 at 12:58 PM. |
