A little up-date.
Been getting into the body work.
I have the cab tilted on its back so it's a little easier to work on the roof.
I welded up the over hang and filled it in.
Then to the roof itself. It was in pretty decent shape.
A couple pics after epoxy and a little sanding. You can see it needs a little work.

I got some Slick Sand.
This stuff is really thick but makes it easy to get the whole surface covered.
I hit with some 80 grit and then used dry guide coat. This stuff went on real easy and gets into the finest of scratches.
A lot more sanding and then another couple coats of epoxy and it looks pretty good.
Will have do do a final sanding and then seal before paint.

It's made by Evercoat.
I found it on Amazon for $60.00 a gallon with the hardener.

I had a couple of spots on the edge where I got back down to bare metal as I didn't have a heavy coverage of the Slick Sand and it will be a while before I get to the actual paint.

I have been using Urofill, not as thick a build up as Slickcoat, but thicker than regular primer, and compatible with 2K sealer.

Right now I'm leaning toward a light metalic blue that chevelle's were painted in the mid 60s although that may change.

I'm just dry sanding at this point.
Not sure how wet sanding would work with the dry guide coat. It may just rinse it off.
As you can tell I'm new at this part of the build.

Kim there is no need to wet sand before painting. I also use the dry guide coat and it works great. Finish off your block sanding with 600 grit (solid and less transparent metallic colors you can get away with 400 grit but 600 grit is safe) before applying your base coat and you will be fine. You can save all your wet sanding and buffing once your finished painting to get rid of any imperfections.

Another point about block sanding that can lead to mistakes is this. Let the sand paper do the work. In other words don't muscle and push down hard while sanding. Just let the black guide across the panel in an x pattern. Applying pressure will lead to problems.
