Re: Frankentruck

Messed around with some sunset pictures again. Just my phone with a smidge of editing on the laptop. My parents have a fairly nice camera back at home, so I might have to start using it this summer. My four year old phone is a little behind on the times camera wise

Thanks, Andy! The thought crossed my mind to use part of the bonus I'll be getting (when I start working full time in the fall for the same company I did my internship with) to buy a new one, but I'll probably be spending it on truck parts instead

I figure since I've already spent about $3,000 on CPA exam study materials and for two of the four exams, I'll treat myself and Frankentruck to some new parts. I just have to pass all four exams to get reimbursed by my company for the money I've spent on passing the exams. I'm 1/4 way there with the second exam coming up in a month. Yee haw

Re: Frankentruck

Hang in there, it will all be worth it! In my experience, the study materials are key. I gave up an entire football season's worth of Saturdays attending a prep course, which turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made.

An old mentor of mine shared with me that after he passed the exam, his father said 'now you'll never starve'....that said, there were only 13 FASB's when he got his license (fellow bean counters will understand )

Oh man, only 13 FASB's would be so nice
As long as I pass each exam on the first try, I'll be done before September rolls around. I'm one for one so far on that plan, so gotta keep studying to make sure that happens.

Congratulations on that and justifiably proud of achieving that. Hopefully there will be enough time later to enjoy the truck.

Thank you, Vince! I'm 1 for 1 on passing a CPA exam on the first try, but now I've got three more to do

Thank you, Harald. I will probably spend the next couple of months enjoying the truck before I tear it apart for all the rust repair later this year.

Thank you! Maybe a little, but I am looking forward to having adult money to spend on truck parts

Re: Frankentruck

These are more of the graduation pics y'all were expecting to see

I took high school graduation pictures with Frankentruck a while back, so of course I had to do it again. I ended up not taking pictures for my undergraduate degree because I had already decided to return to Georgia College for my Masters, and my graduation ceremony was an online only ceremony. This time though, it was a normal ceremony, so that was nice.

Anyways, enjoy some pics of Frankentruck and myself out at Lake Sinclair.

Re: Frankentruck

I know what's wrong with it, it ain't got no gas in it!

It's hard to put into words about how thankful I am for my parents. They worked hard to raise me up to be a respectful member of society. I think I turned out ok They let me keep a bunch of spare parts in the garage and make a mess out of the driveway frequently. It's a great time in the Carpenter household

Thank you! I enjoyed my internship, and I'll be doing the same type of work when I start full time later this year with the same company. I do get to spend my summer studying for and passing the rest of my CPA exams. 1 down, 3 to go.

Lake Sinclair a nice spot to "run out of gas". When do you start your new job?

My sons UGA graduation is this Friday...hard to believe. You guys are making me feel old(er), but then I move on the 22nd...so no time for that feeling old stuff! LOL

I'll be starting some time around August, most likely. Gives me plenty of time to get at least 3 of the 4 CPA exams passed. Ideally, I could pass all 4 before I start working, but I've set it up to where I take the "easiest" of the 4 last.
Congrats to your son as well!

Re: Frankentruck

I have two starter for the truck. One that would spark really bad when I tried to start it, and the one that was in the truck but sometimes wouldn't do the spinny thing and sounded pretty crunchy most of the time.

I took the extra sparky one to a starter and alternator shop in Milledgeville before I graduated to have it rebuilt. I haven't had the time to rebuild one myself, so it made sense to pay $60 for the knowledgeable folks to work their magic on it.
I was able to swap starters this evening, so now I'm not worried about the starter for awhile.

Re: Frankentruck

Fixed another issue with Frankentruck today. I didn't realize that one of the taillights would turn off at night when the blinker was activated. My dad noticed it over the weekend. I cleaned up the grounds on both sides, and that fixed it. The lights seem a lot brighter now too

I also had to pull the starter out of the Dakota this morning so I can have it rebuilt. May is the month of starters for me apparently

Yep, they do corrode and weaken the connection. I think I mentioned in the 'What did you do to your truck today?" thread that I had to use PB Blaster to get the bulbs out of my tail lights.

Yeah, that's no fun on that one. Thankfully, it wasn't the bulb that had corroded. It was more that I didn't do a great job of grounding the housings when I swapped bedsides last year. They work way better now for sure.
