Re: Daverods project 66

Put my engine on my frame. Tested out the front bags. Everything worked good. Pulled the oil pan off my 64 and changed the gasket. What a pain in the butt.

I think real progress is linked more to money then it is to the weather. But it is nice to see summer. Least I get to drive my 64 .

Good point. I guess I get a little lazy when it's "cold" outside. You know, down in the 50's.

Thanks but I think the gas would kill the deal. You could bring it up here it though. Put it in the back of a 2 1/2 ton and tell them you need to do a road test. We use to go get fire wood that way till we rolled one off the side of the road. Told the CO someone hit us in the parking lot.

Ordered a trans cross member from brothers. Thinking about getting a quart of por15 for my frame? Don't know if I'm rich enough for the por15? Feeling kind broke this month.

When you use the POR-15 make sure it's in a clean environment because it dries very show and will collect dirt. Especially in a dry climate. Where it's humid it dries faster. And mix it really good to get all the deposits from the bottom.

Think a qt will be enough? Did'nt you have a problem with the shine? I'm going to get semi gloss?

Re: Daverods project 66

Yes, but it might have been because I didn't mix it good enough. I think a qt should do it if you use a brush. Just make it as smooth as you can with the brush. Watch for runs.

Dave, there always good deals on E-Bay, or Craigs List. People are in dire straights, and are giving things away.

Re: Daverods project 66

Finally got my 64 running again. The oil pan gasket kicked my a$$. If anyone is thinking about doing this job be prepared. I had to jack up both sides of the motor up about 2" still could'nt get the pan off. Ended up just cleaning it up while it was still in place and put the new gasket on. When I went to put the engine mount bolts back on I stripped one. Good thing is they only cost about $6. Filled it up with royal purple and ran a can of sea foam threw it. Runs great no leaks. I'm a happy camper
