Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
Nice work on the pancake cross member.
You mentioned about having a slight rake when done. Are you working towards laying frame in the future? Dig the front end sittin off to the side. |

got some more work done today. i got it back as a roller now. all i have left is the steering shaft u joint (gotta order one) and raise the engine mounts. Im not sure if you small block guys had to do this or not but the drain plug on my oil pan was about 1/2" off the ground before i modded the crossmember. so looks like i need to raise it about 2 inches. Im sure that will open i new can of worms to make all that work. anyway here are a few pics well the bumper doesnt touch the ground but i guess its close enough not the best pics but you can get an idea of what the stance will look like more updates coming soon.

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
You've got some killer fab skills, brother. I'm diggin' the truck!!
I actually like the fact that it's not dragging the bumper. I like my stuff slammed, but the whole "laying frame" thing doesn't look nearly as cool as a '60-'66 with the perfect rake. To me, the forward-leaning back window looks even cooler when the chassis has the right rake.

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
thanx for all the cool comments guys!!
I got a little bit of work done today. i got most of the notching done to get the front clip to fit. my back got tired after wrestling that thing around 4 different tries bad news is my wheel tubs will need to be moved up about 3/4 inch i should have taken the advice i was given early on and just made them extra big then. this will be the third time ive had to work on those front wheel tubs the front clip is being held up about 3/4 inch off the mounts because the tires are hitting the wheel tubs. once i get it mounted down where i need it though you really wont be able to tell i dropped the bumper as much as i did after i gave up on that i got the tranny pulled off to get ready for rebuild and get the engine on a stand. here are a couple of non action shots.. lol also ive been doing alot of drawing lately so give as xmas presents to family. here are a couple little bit of glare on this pic but you get the idea going to try to get that front clip knocked out tomorrow stay tuned

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
Dude your artistry skills are phenomenal! You should probably be using that as a profession, but if you're like me you'd rather keep it as a hobby. I gotta admit though, your talent outweighs mine. looking forward to the continued progress on the '66.

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
You certainly know your way around a pencil and some paper man !!
I have to ask if there are certain things you do and don't do in your garage there. I am always amazed at how clean your shop looks and it occured to me that if I did not weld, grind, and paint in the same area as my build, then it would not be so freekin dirty all the time. Your truck just keeps looking better and better dude

haha i dont like to get dirty. i keep a spray bottle with soap and water so i can keep my hands clean while im working. well i got a little done today.. I got my wheel tubs cut out and finished notching everthing on the front clip so it would sit down like its supposed to. once i got that done i could tell that i didnt like how the bumper was. so i cut 3/4" off the frame to get the bumper closer to the body and it looks good now ok here is the end result after i lowered the bumper 1 1/4", moved the bumper toward the front clip 3/4" lowered the rad support mount 1/2" once i do this you wont be able to tell i moved the bumper down at all also decided to notch this hood to fit and see what it looked like... btw i put some old engine oil on it to get the rust color to turn darker to match the rest of the truck. it will take some time
