Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
i dont know... i just know it is different from my original one. my orig. sending units only have 1 wire (no electric fuel pump)just like the switching valve only had 1 wire. the '87 has 2 wires on the sending unit and 4 on the switching valve and 4 on the cab switch.

Looking good Dennis. I really like the radiator support piece. What color are you going with on the rest of the core support?

Can you draw a diagram for the harness? I have a 86 and I will need to find a 87 to pull the harness, unless it looks easy to modify mine. thanks rongstad |

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
rongstad, i'll draw one up for you. just give me a few days... 50+hrs at work this week and next.
btw, how many wires are run to your sending units?? when i was at pick in pull i was looking at an '82 1 ton diesel with duel tanks and it looked like it had the same set up as the '87's. not sure if it was an '80's thing or what. i checked everything from the switching valve to the inside switch. everything was the same... after some searching i was luck enough to find an '87 with the bed off so it was easier for me to pull off than the diesel... just a thought man. and something else i thought was cool is the tranny xmember on the 1 ton had duel humps for the exhaust and a single hole mount that looked to be perfect for the 4l80e's! the only problem i could see is i think the frame rails look taller than the 1/2 tons. if someone were to take off the extra mount on the xmember itself i think it would work.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
the fuel lines and fuel system really turned out nice and clean. very happy with it so far. just waiting on the headers so i can finish routing the steel braided line to the fuel rail.

Nice!!! Looks like they all fit nice. Did they all have the rubber hose or did you have to do that part?

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
You know...if you just got it out and drove it, that dust wouldn't build up and the fingerprints wouldn't be there either.

That crossmember looks great buddy. I got lucky and was able to move my factory one back. Even had the holes in the frame already.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
tanks Bob!
well... speartech's phone manners suck along with their prices, wait4me's phone has had a busy signal since 10am, left a message at current performance, and John from nelson performance was very nice, had a decent price and was very informative. also looked up the painless harness... $1000. no thanks! so nelson performance said they dont lengthen the wires(i can do that), they include relays and fuse block and they will adapt my esky harness for the 4l80e for $450.... then the tune for $150. they also just clip the wires like wait4me... i need to call back and find out who foots the bill for the shipping. i wish Jess and Hannah would put the phone down i'm still thinking and weighing my options here guys.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
I checked with Nordstroms Performance, (I think that's right). They will build you a custom wiring harness. It comes to $980.00. It includes a fuse block and all relays. All you have to plug it in and go. The price includes the ecm programming as well. Spoke with a guy named Russ yesterday.

Also, had to go to Dallas and did not have time to get one of the seats out of the blazer to weigh it.
