Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well today I had a day off to get a little truck time in . The first thing I had to do was clear the garage, so I could get the cab out as it was at the back . The problem was it only had three wheels on the trolly it was on , because when it was pushed into the garage last time the back wheel on the trolly broke .
So the first thing I did was to repair the broken wheel by changing all four with taller and stronger wheels I then tried lifting it back onto the trolly boy these cabs are heavy lifting on your own . Luckily Rian called me to ask how I was getting on . I told him I was strugerling , he said he wad on his way out to collect something and he would call in on the way back as he also wanted to borrow my Sandblaster . Well we managed to get the cab on the new trolly once again my bike lift came in handy All rolled back into the garage ready for me to roll out and do the dash removal , then it will be loaded onto the trailer and taken to the Sandblasters , to be blasted and primed . With the Mercedes now gone and the money going in the truck fund its back on track Tomorrow Paul y is coming over to borrow my engine crane . Then over to Rian's in the afternoon for a barbecue so the truck will have to wait till Sunday

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Ahhhh yes, arent you glad I am a scavenger....?
Those wheels came from the yard last year. And I have to say, having pushed the cab about on both sets of wheels, the new ones are a real pleasure. I see you have not mentioned why you are coming over......... Oooopps... You did. May be a good thing, otherwise we get run over by hungry people. Pity the likes of Paul, Brandon, Don, Clem, John, Bill, Greg and others cannot make it.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
I know every time I speak to Paul he mentions cutting down my chassis to turn it into a short bed then do a BBW conversion . Well if I did all that I would never get it finished , SO LETS GET THIS STRAIGHT I WANT IT FINISHED AS I MISS DRIVING IT ......... It also means I have an excuse to build another one when its finished .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Today started early , I need to use my next door neighbours trailer , unfortunately he had loaded the trailer with some old furniture that he was getting rid of . So after breaking up the furniture I put it in the back of my car and took it to the local tip , it's easier than taking the trailer there . So once that was done I went over to Rian's friend Kevins , to collect some paving slabs for my garden project . After all this running around it was lunch time .
Then the proper work started . TRUCK TIME ........... First I pushed it out of the garage (these new wheels are great on the trolley thanks Rian) The first job was to remove the old sound deadening pads Wow it's amazing the difference between two cabs of the same age . All the sound deadening pads removed Next job was to remove the old dash . The radio was fitted by a blind man with a chainsaw I think Dash all removed New dash in place that I removed from my old cab After that job was done I filled in the gas filler hole . Next job will be to fill in the hole in the transmission hump , and then remove and clean up the brackets for the gas tank . It's great to be working back on the truck , and not a bad afternoons work .
