I have no sound at work, hope it wasn't something bad.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Update!

I swapped transmissions, reverse went out in mine, so I put the one in from the parts 'Burb that Scott and I split. It is a nice smooth trans with a fully functioning reverse.

Got my new rear tires on. 275/60/17 Falken S/TZ-04

I have one of my new front tires and they had to order one. It should be in next Tuesday. 245/65/17 Falken S/TZ-04

Got my 'Burb tank finalized.

Installed my Early Classics hidden hitch. I got it from Carolina Classics

Got it all back together tonight, I'll get some daylight pics tomorrow.
I really like the new rear tires. They are meaty and look mean.

Nice work Joe! Glad to hear you got new tires. You may need more traction in the great white north. Thanks for sharing the pics. Dig the driveshaft too.

Thanks Mike!!
Yeah, I'll need all the traction I can get.
I got my eye on a '91 4x4 1 ton crew cab that's for sale in Alaska.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

There was a sweet looking 88 or 89 Dually Crew 4x4 on CL in Tulsa yesterday. Was a very nice looking truck, but they wanted like 9k for it. I don't recall if it was diesel or not though. I'd be looking for a big diesel if I moved to BFE Alaska.

Good luck on the road trip. I have made the drive from WA to AK three times. Just make sure you have several spare tires and some cans of fix-a-flat. I had at least one tire failure on each leg of the trip every time I made the drive. The crushed rock on the roads from the road construction equipment really take a toll on your tires.

I'm sure you will be able to find some decent 3/4-ton 4x4 parts cheap once you get to AK. The bodies just don't last long but the frames & axles are still good.

Where in Alaska are you headed? I lived in Anchorage for a while. I loved it there and only left because the air force needed me elsewhere.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

thanks Jon!

Last Friday was my last day at work so I have @ 18 full days to git 'er done
I'm waiting on some parts I ordered from summit. I ordered new cab mounts, a Lokar column shift linkage, and a Lokar neutral safety switch.
I may need to get one of those shift linkages for the crew....

BTW, I looked on Dallas craigslist but haven't found any toppers for the crew.... If you come across one please let me know
