Re: post up your camping pics
Medano is a pretty easy ride for sure, but very scenic. I think the FS or Parks service ran a small bulldozer on the east side of the pass for pretty long stretch. I don't remember that side being that smooth, ever. It's almost paved enough for Subaru to drive over until the water crossings.

Re: post up your camping pics
crew looks good Gov!
trying to source some steelies and caps for mine right now, they look good on yours. seeing how it's offically winter, took the mutts snow wheeling up a few miles from our place. going to head up this valley, was socked in pretty good in the morning and wit all the rain lately, lotsa rocks on the road, more than i photo'ed. road was good otherwise for the first 10 miles or so |

Re: post up your camping pics
about 10 in we run into snow.
this was actually the slippery-est part. none of them tracks are new except for an atv i passed earlier, and being at the transition zone, rain/snow, was a little slick. once the snow got deeper, traction was fine |

Re: post up your camping pics
come around a corner and get these nice views
this is the turn around spot for vehicles. the only tracks past here was the guy on the quad i passed and an old set of atv tracks...i'm first truck up only got about another 2 miles anyways behind that downed sapling is 3 more bigger trees. had to back up about half a mile on the hill to a spot where i could do a 56 point u-turn without sliding off the road |

Re: post up your camping pics
ya, it would do some hurt it if one of them tagged you...
took the dogs snow wheeling again. tried some logging roads up Pierce mt. on the way in first logging rd i tried was more in the sun. the road melted and froze over. all around the cross ditches was ice...and that was where i bagged out. was kinda disappointed with the snow performance of the new BF KM2's and how far i did not get. lost too much momentum slowing for the cross ditch, and on the ice they just spun. in the vid i'm not backing up at the stuck point, every time i gave it a little gas the tires just spun and i would slide backwards.....soooo....for the second time in a week had to back down a mountain rd....at least this time it was only a 1/4 mile or so https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mpd0...ature=youtu.be |

Re: post up your camping pics
so after backing down, tried another one. was more successful this time. sped up the vid cause the dogs were running along the truck and it was waaay too long.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kO7k...ature=youtu.be i stopped where i did cause there is a log gate just up the hill, and the corner is the only place wide enough to do a u-ey. the corner is actually steeper than it looks. when i started the truck and barely moved the steering wheel, the front end started sliding down the hill...which was ok cause i was going in that direction anyways... hiked the last 50 feet or so |

Re: post up your camping pics
thought we might get thru this winter relativity unscathed...but nooo, had a arctic outflow blast us for the last week. temps been hanging around -25C (-12F) plus a windchill thrown in for good measure, and dumped a couple feet of snow in some places....like our road, pretty much the only place need 4x4 as our road never gets plowed.
took the mutts out today for some snow romping rat dog Moe jumped outta the truck and disappeared into the snow...help me... all them divots in the snow was me shaking snow off the trees onto the dogs...belive me, they deserved it...lol |

Re: post up your camping pics
as you may know, my camper fridge clapped out the other yr, almost impossible to find one, let alone one that would fit my '89 TravelMate....well, after looking for over a yr, was finally successful. so we've decided to keep the camper a little longer, we're going to kick the kid outside into a tent so me and wifey can have the overhead bunk
works perfectly, gets cold very fast, very clean, just have to change the door inlay with the one from our old one, it's woodgrain so it will match the rest of the camper. looked at new ones, approx $1400 up here, not complaining at 300 clams for this one... |

Re: post up your camping pics
finally got around to doing the camper fridge.
the old one... ....and dis-connected and pulled out replacement fridge on top. you can see how the tube going into the burner cracked and let everything out nothing wrong wit the replacement fridge door, but i just liked our older one better, swapped it out |

Re: post up your camping pics
replaced the old roofmate insulation wit something a little more modern and better while it was opened up.
and replacement fridge in. just have to do a leak test, then pull the crew alongside, plug it in and test it. it works on electricity, but need to make sure it fires on propane |
