Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
No Pirate or CK5 anymore. Too much is too much. I like this site way better! I know those sites are a little more extreme, but not for me. I surf them now and again, but like this site and the members more! For the price we pay here, this is the best way to go! Way bunch of good members here, vendors too!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
National wheel and US wheel both list them. Either of those should work. I wouldn't cheap out on Chinese eBay specials. You never know strength and quality on them. Main thing is to get them on correctly and make sure they stay tight. They are illegal in some states as well. I would check on that in your state too.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's CHULISOHOMBRE! Went with US Wheel, and just bought a set that should work perfectly. Went out to the pole barn and mocked up one of the wheels and tires on the drivers front. Wheel hits the stock steering knuckle just as the wheel studs poke through. Real close to my crossover/high steer drag link end also. Spacers will solve this and actually will tuck the front lockouts in just a bit. Happy, spacers are on thier way! Got a few pic's, one of the mockup, one of the cool humvee wheel bolts, and one of the old stocker 16" wheels with 265/75/16" rubber going byby!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
No problem. Looks good on there. I like the look of the older style 12 bolt rims a little more. But they had some issues sealing at the split rubber seal.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Still waiting on delivery of the spacers. Really looking forward to getting this setup mounted up! Been working some more major overtime to cover the cost of this step. I will get some pic's up when they get here!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Looks real good. I want to see a fully mounted pic as well. Do you have a good source for tires to keep Getting them? That was my biggest concern with a 16.5 rim. A lot of tire companies don't offer a lot in that size anymore. Mainly just milspec tires.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Hey Chuli, I got the spacers today. They are really nice! I will try and set one up this weekend after work. As for the 16.5 tires, no I do not have a good source for more. I am really just using this setup as a temporary deal. In the end I want to go with custom beadlocks in 17" size with 40" Nitto Trail Grapplers. I got this combo from a military surplus store fairly close to me and figure this will get me rolling and wheeling again. Ebay has a ton of the military tires for sale, but seems to me shipping and etc would kill the deals. I was just tired of my K5 looking so wierd with the 265/75/16" rubber on it. I will try and get some pic's up this weekend!

Couldn't wait, got the spacers out and took some pic's! Very heavy duty, not too sure about running them but it is a temporary setup for now. Pic's!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
They look Like they'll work good. Usually can get them at a good price but shipping at 35$ apiece or so does kill the deal a bit.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Yep, happy with these spacers so far. Going to mock one up tomorrow and see for sure. After that, I'm going to paint the outer round surface black to kind of conceal it behind the wheels. Anybody else running spacers?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Got the drivers front spacer/wheel/tire combo all mounted up! Worked perfectly. Plenty of room to clear the steering and fits the wheel studs nicely. Got some pic's!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Make sure you torque those spacer bolts a few times. I put some on my jeep, torqued them good n tight then drove around and torqued again. The studs never fully seated even though I couldn't tighten them anymore, short of the story my wife drove around the corner and lost a wheel. Guess it was my fault for thinking they were fully pressed in at the manufacturer.

Just ordered up a NEW Craftsman torque wrench to be able to torque the spacers/lug nuts to specs! Will be able to torque nuts down and recheck as needed!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Weather is getting better every day here. Snow pack in front of pole barn door almost gone too! Warms up a little more, it's time to mount up this wheel/tire combo and fire it up! Got to do a cleanup in the pole barn first but thats no problem. Really thinking about getting rid of the Mercury Capri in there to free up some working room! Come on spring!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's man! Even with the 37" Goodyears it only gives me about 10.5" ground clearance at the diffs. But it does look way better, can't wait to get it out and test drive it a little! The 1 ton diffs sure make a big difference in ground clearance, but it is sure worth it! Future rubber will be 40" or 42" so will gain some height there!
