Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Yep. In 71 cadillac made this an option for both door mirrors. I'm hoping I can figure out a way to do this on the truck and not take away the stock look or make it bulky. I have a few ideas but until I get this Mirror in my hands I won't know for sure if I can make it work.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Well this mirror has run many ideas thru my head. But I just don't like the look of the square mirror heads on a 67 (even though they are much better for vision) so I decided to look for some round mirrors that have remote controls. These are what I came up with. I'm sure i figured out a way I can make these work with the stock arms. Just some surgery to the ends of the arms. The driver remote will go where the white dot is in the door panel. The passenger may go under where the choke hole is. Not sure i have enough cable length for that location though.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Well I made some progress with a spare arm I had just to make sure I can make this work before messing with the arm that I'm using on my truck. Here's what I came up with. You can see the light in the center of the mirror in the last picture. That is where the cables will o down the tube into the door.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Didn't like that look so..... here is the final version for the driver side. Now I'll have to do the passenger side.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I made a bracket that will be welded to the underside of my dash that will hold my wiper delay that member twoofakind made and my washer bottle low warning light module. I also started to round out the mirror mounting area on the arm to look inline with the mirror base.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
So I think I'm going to mount the passenger mirror control under the dash right under the ac controller. The arm is bent on this piece nicely to make it look straight with the angle of the dash. Didn't have the truck here so I made a template to transfer to the dash.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Got my new seat cover material from sms today to make my new seat covers. This time they got the colors correct and they made the stich pattern deeper this time in the dark red like the factory did it. . They are a pain to deal with sometimes and have long waits but the material is so nice. Was worth the wait to have this correct. Now I'll get a local company to make the new covers and put them on.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Today I made 2 more brackets to mouth stuff under the dash. The 1st one holds my switch pitch convertor controller made by Bruce Roe (He's On A Lot Of Buick Websites) that helps adapt the unit for better drive ability and work smoother with the gear vendor. It will
Mount behind the glove box up under the dash. Next is my accessory powerbox for some of the accessories I have added. It will mount up behind the headlight switch. |

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Rad support metal work is getting done and a few small other pieces. Soon I can hang the front sheet metal for door alignment. And I can drill the holes in the door for the moldings

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I took my buddy buckets to get the new seat covers made and installed today and had an unexpected run in with member "knuckle Nurse" who is now also getting new covers on his buddy seats now. They will be sharp looking seats when all is said and done!

I put Buddy seats in every truck I have built. I’ve got a very nice set of covers that were removed to make templates for all my sets. I love following along on your build it has got to be the most detailed build ever documented (not only for volume of posts and info but for the numerous modification you’ve added). Congrats on your continued dedication to the build!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
That's great. The reason I detail the threads is that someone else can use this information on their builds. It's been fun sharing this build. Challenging at times as well.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Starting to put the truck back together for fitment but had a stall on my driver side fender so more work will be required before I can assemble further. I did get the holes in the cowl removed that were for the windshield washer nozzles and the antenna hole repaired after someone enlarged it for a whip antenna.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Got the front end lined up. Needs a bit more lining g up in the doors and the cowl needs working the corners. The hood gap needs a bit of tweeking too but isn't too bad. Had to use a 68 driver fender . When put the one I had on the truck you could tell it had collision damage and was not repaired correctly. I'll just get the hole filled nicely so you won't even notice it was there from either side.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I've been working for the last few evenings trying to get the passenger mirror to operate properly. I have to say this has been one of the most challenging things I have done on this truck You can't buy new cables and the 1st mirror I bought for the longer cables I messed up so I had to buy another. I destroyed 2 nos mopar mirrors to make one that could work on my truck just because they had cables long enough to reach the dash. But i think I have the hard part done!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
This is where I mounted the wiper delay module and the low washer fluid module behind the dash. You can see where the twilight sentinel is mounted as well

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I got my truck back home tonight so I can finish up a few things before it goes back in the summer hopefully to start completion. I am super happy with the work I've had done. To door jambs look great with the bear claw locks. I had him leave the detail where the old lock used to be. Andr he got the gaps and hood to fit really nice. The front end is 3 different trucks so I was worried about that. Only panel thats not original paint now is the driver fender. I hope theres no surprises when it gets stripped. It's expensive work but worth it when it looks this nice in bare metal.
