Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Thank you! Well since I cannot get the 5/8” vent line up to the gas cap. I decided to add this vent line and run it above the fill cap. I called Tanks inc and discussed my situation. They said to vent the tank (the 3/8” line) and to add this tee to the filler neck vent. They also said to tee them together and run the one higher than the fill cap. I will try to connect them and run One 3/8” line up and if it doesn’t work I will separate them and run two 3/8” lines.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Continue to work on the bed. I ordered a set of stainless/delrin tailgate trunions.
Figured I would hit them on the polisher before install. Time to get the tailgate installed so I can square up the box and get it tightened down for the last time.

Grabbed a quick picture after getting the gate on. Looks good. I do need to tighten up the slack in the handle. I don’t like it. But the gate is on and looks great.

DW. I say that everytime I need something lol.

Little update on the bed. Tailgate and fender wells are in. I just need to get my toolbox doors installed and aligned so I can tighten all the 1000 bed bolts.

I also finished up my Gas tank filler behind the driver taillight. I ran the wiring for the taillights. reverse lights, and side markers.

Looking good! Curious. Where did you get the cork gasket for wheel wells? And any chance you have pics of your cross sill in place before the bed wood went on?

EDIT: Oh, and did you use the rubber pads under the cross-sills?

The bed floor is from Smokey Road Rod Shop in Georgia. They provided the gaskets and hardware.

The cross sills are stock but have been customized by me and have been powder coated. I will see if I have a picture. but post 1034 you can see the cross sills

Thanks. I am looking to see your placement of the second to last cross sill on the frame, hoping to see what holes you used in your frame. And I am also wondering if you used those little square rubber pads under your cross-sills or if they are metal to metal. Can't see that in post #1034 unless I am blind lol.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Oh I got you. I measured my mounting holes in my bedsides so I cant remember where i placed that cross sill. I will have to look and get back to you. I raised my sills up 1” so I made my own pads with some real thin rubber. I can’t remember the thickness. But it’s pretty thin like 1/16” or so.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Small update...
Received my bucket seats from the upholster. The photo is them just setting in place. I need to melt holes in the floor to keep the carpet from unraveling.
after I set the seats in place my upholstery guy and I set the center counsel/seat in and now have a game plan on how it will be upholstered. The plan is to have the design flow from the center counsel to the speaker box. We will see how that goes.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

My time lately has been used up by work and a new toy.
I decided to order a Snap-on welders work station to consolidate my MIG and TIG welders so not to have all these carts.

On another note I cant wait to remove the truck and clean out all the dust and debris from all the work on this truck.....bodywork, dust, ash from the forest fires, etc.

Those seats are just plush looking

I like the new welding station too. So you got ash from forest fires eh? Hopefully you and your family didn't have any loss due to all those fires....

Our whole state was or is on fire so the smoke and ash was around in,y area for a few weeks. They are contained or close to being contained now. I have a few friendS that lost their cabins but no one was hurt thankfully.

I can’t wait to get the center section.

I am heading to Montana for 2 weeks so maybe it will be finished by the time I get back!

Thank you 30772, you in Montana? IF so where?
The seats were originally an aftermarket seat from a company like shop4seats.com I think. I cut them up. Shortened them and built a custom seat mount. I also cut the head rests in half.
In this picture you can see how tall the seat and headrest sit in relation to the back window. This was on the shortened seat mounts.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Hey guys I have been moving along slowly with the truck. I have received my seats and console. Now waiting on the amplifier board and speaker box so I can wire the stereo and then on to finish up the door panels.

I did get the tool box doors on and adjusted. Just need to cut and buff the bed and tailgate.
More pictures up soon.

Well my painter has been working on the bed sides. he was able to get them cut and buffed. Check out the pictures. One even looks like it has white dust on the lower portion but its just the reflection of the ground.
Cant wait to get the bed complete and get the wheels on it!!!
Happy New Year All!!!
I will post a video my son shot while I was moving the truck back into the shop!!!
