Re: What did you do to your truck today?

put master and slave cylinders plus misc. brake parts in from a donor to new ride, bled the brakes and clutch, all working now.
the old slave cylinders were just filled with a white powdery substance. (this thing sat for a long time!)
finished up tacking the new header/exhaust all the way to muffler, ...
started it with the donor motor for the first time. sounds good!

CB1965 like your roll around dolly.

I didn't work on the truck, but I got my band saw set up so I can start building the rest of the tubes for my 4 link.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Funny thing about the thumbs up/attention these trucks draw. Took my wife out for a lunch date Friday and while parked overlooking a left turn lane, we kept getting eyeballed along with many smiles. It got a little scary however when the guy in the 64 Dodge truck kept staring at our truck while moving forward in traffic. Suddenly the cars in front of him stopped, and he didn't. He was busy looking backward over his shoulder out the window, slamming on the brakes at the last second hard enough to kill the engine and came to rest about .050" behind the Mercedes in front of him!

I'm thinking maybe next time I better park on the other side away from facing traffic!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I turned a few wrenches today. Mostly I cussed at the truck, damned the guy I bought it from, and berated myself for not getting rid of it sooner. I've decided that it's going to the mech-neck tomorrow. I'm tired of futzing with it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Put my swaybar on which has been sitting in my garage for more than a year. Holy cow what a difference. It does bottom out on the control arm when I air out but that will be taken care of tomorrow. No more inner fender rub.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I installed the heater hose fitting on the engine and water pump and hooked up the heater hoses but I still need one hose clamp. I also set the radiator in and put the fan on.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Received my new clear dome lens from LMC and snapped it in place. The light output is substantially brighter. I'll see if I can photograph the improvement sometime in the next few evenings.

Looked at the truck, and ordered all the customers parts for his Gran Torino project. I know it's a F*rd.

NICE JOB!! that'll help...
i build turbo headers at the shop, and two things you should seriously consider (cuase eventually you'll have too) is build a turbo mount (if you allready haven't) that is NOT part of the header,...real important.
and i know its a bit more $$ but well worth it, is do the header pipe out of stainless steel and as much as possible. the exhuast out of the turbo stainless too. mild steel just can't take the heat after a while.
cool ride, thats gonna be fun. , Frank
