Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II

Little '85 swb I just picked up last weekend. Dropped it this week and bolted up the torq thrusts. Went for a more classic hot rod look. Still much to do but not bad for 7 days of ownership.

Drop: (front) 2.5" spindle / 2" coil / drop shocks (rear) 5" flip kit / overload spring removed / drop shocks

Wheels/tires: (front) 17x8 / 245/55/17 (rear) 17x9.5 / 275/60/17

And yes, the old school bar grille has got to go! Needs a good detail/wheel polish too.

Looks nice! Not a Billet grille but I agree it needs to go. Throw a rear sport bumper on too.

Robbie - That truck turned out nice. I agree that grille has to go...and that rear bumper. We have the some one on the rear of Henry, we are going to swap it for a suburban/blazer bumper once we find a good one.

Thanks, Karl. I have an aftermarket grille with oem trim/bowtie but I can't get the grille to fit. Ugh! The sport bumper is next on my list, though i havent looked into the suburban/blazer bumper yet. The truck will get new trim and likely an LS that I have in my garage. I did order a set of 75-77 low back buckets and 81+ console for a mostly period correct look on the interior. I'm hoping they turn out well. Here's a more recent pic after it's been cleaned on a little:

New to the forum but have been following for awhile. Got this truck last spring and have loved every second of it since. Many plans for the future but just want to enjoy it as is right now.

As far as I know I am the third owner of this truck. I picked it up in Grand Rapids, MI last spring from the second owner. He was from Alabama and picked up the truck down there ~12 years prior. Still has original build sheet and title in the glove box. Before him it was a shop truck somewhere down there. Had 72,000 original miles on it when I purchased. 350/Th350 factory A/C truck heavy duty rear springs and step bumper. I will try to get some more pictures up soon. That was the only good picture I had of it at the time of posting. All I've done to it was a good tune up and a good hand buff job to get rid of all the oxidation. Have a newer dash going into this weekend out of a 79 Burb. Original was all cracked from being in the AL sun. Would like to go lower at some point but not too low. Planning on painting the red down the middle this year and then eventually clearing over the beautiful white patina paint.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II

This 1983 C10 is a father/son project that has been a decade in the making. It started as my first truck in high school and is now in its final stages. It has a 350 crate with th350 transmission. Dropped 2.5/4 with western chassis drop spindles and drop leafs. It recently got a new paint job in GM victory red and we completely rebuilt the front end. It's been awesome spending time with the old man and learning paint/body work and all of the tricks and tips that come with years of experience.
