Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

Wow, Nice progress Ryan! The truck should be burning rubber in no time! IMO i would put a set of 191 dv's in the pump while its out and you have the time to work on it. That pump is gonna be bad arse tho. I have a 175hp ppump that i still need to collect parts for before it sees the conversion. what size injector lines are you going with?

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

It has 0.084" lines on it and for now I put in 0.022" DV's before I take the ones out of my truck for it.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

More progress. Got the turbo piping done and painted. I found my weldments and welded a bung in the cold pipe for a boost gauge, and 2 in the hot pipe at the engine. One for a boost reference to the AFC housing, and the other for a boost gauge. Nick got the injection pump put on, he timed it to 26* I believe, vac/ps pump is on, and I got the oil feed line for the ip and vac pump on. I got the intake plate put on with a new gasket, and cleaned and painted the grid heater. I ended up swapping my ps pump for one we had laying around that is for hydraboost so I didn't have to monkey with a T in the return line for both of them. Next thing to do is paint my heater housing, and get a throttle bracket set up.

Thanks. Hopefully soon. I have to get the wiring sorted out now that I found a front harness.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

I've made more progress. I got the clutch hydros installed. Hopefully the clutch engages and disengages like it's supposed to. I won't know until I have it ready to start. I have the fuel shut off solenoid wired, starter wired, coolant temp sensor wired, finished the mount for the hydra boost, got the drive shaft at the drive line shop, Nick got the injection lines on for the last time, and I painted the hydra boost unit. It's getting closer. I also picked up this spare cluster from a friend.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

More progress but I swear 3 steps forward, 2 back! My brother started installing the DIY4X shackle flip, not a bolt on unit. Here it is with no lift blocks, just the shackle flip kit.

I ended up removing 2 1/4" from the shackle bars and got it to this.

It still sits higher in the rear than I want, I might have to bring the front up so it doesn't look like a drag car. I got my spring perches installed and installed some U-bolt retaining plates off of a freightliner truck since I didn't have any for this thing.

Here is the hydra boost mount finished, and the clutch hydros mounted.

I also got my drive shaft back and will check to see how it fits in the morning.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

iether that or buy leafsprings with more of an arch in them
you might even be able to combine 2 sets by taking one set apart and use parts to put a couple of extra leaves in the 2nd set it will bounce like hell though

My first one I purchased from a member here on the board and paid 2 1/2 times more than what I have in this one. I need one for my crew cab truck you know.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

I managed to get the suspension sitting how I want it and not super high in the rear. Now I have to get the rear axle as close to centered in the wheel tubs as I can.

I managed to get the steering block on and the drag link hooked up. I have to get a reamer so I can get the chevy rod end in farther to the dodge steering arm.

I have to get new tie rods because Napa decided to give me the wrong ones.
