Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
The new flux core is a lot better than the old splatter prone stuff. I know a guy thats welds look like a machine Like BAM said earlier and he uses flux core and gets almost no splatter.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Ha ha, I DO suck....but your mom wears combat boots!
Guess I should NOT kid about moms the night before Mothers Day! I AM going to pick up a tank of mig gas this week and buy the .023" I need to do the repairs on my truck. A guy I know with an old Lincoln "tombstone" buzaz box has VERY generously offered to do this strucutral work for me and even though I feel like I'm taking advantage of his generosity I kinda have little choice. I'm gonna pay him for his time and materials even though he says he won't let me. I'm only on a few of these boards but honestly, you guys are all incredible generous with your help, time and even tools and help. Thanks guys for the help. I've gotta stop this now because my little project is derailing Bam's thread. |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
True, about the heat. I would also add that since you bought the welder from a friend and it sat around for an extended time before you used it, you should check the polarity for mig vs. flux core. Your friend may have used it for flux core and if you try using it for mig without changing the polarity, you won't get enough heat for thick materials.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Well today was a good day my wheels finally came in. After 9 weeks of waiting.
I guess I can live with a 5 inch lip on the rear wheel, I did want more but they would not give it to me.lol |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Oh man, those things turned out SWEET! LOVE the rear lip. I'm a huge fan of Big & Littles, and those wheels will definitely look right. What are you going to run for tire sizes?
The story of my life........
