That does look very nice. The light was a good find too. I really appreciate old high quality items.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Got the carpet in. Commercial low loop $5. Edge binding $67.50. 16 hours labor making templates, cut, adjust, trim, cut, etc. Included finishing the cab insulation and finishing up stuff that the carpet would cover. found the templates were good for identifying problem areas, but actual install is trial, snip a little, try again, etc. I started at the top so the steps were the last area to trim, glad I did. Here are the pics. Got enough material to make matching floor matts. Will also get some WeatherTech type for additional protection.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Stero mounted under the passenger seat. Speakers installed. Sounds great, volume is good wife hollered at me to turn in down half way across the yard. Remote works from the drivers seat location. Programming is a challenge, looking upside down. Single CD player, front USB and MP3 ports, bluetooth so I can use with my phone if I get ambitious. Painted the speakers with SEM vinyl paint to match the seats and rest of interior.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Pulled vacuum on the ac lines yesterday. Holding good at 18 hours so no leaks. Here are photos, including my modest vacuum/air pump. I got it out of a commercial pet shop fish tank operation. Also added a filter to the brake booster line, recommended to catch fuel vapor that attacks the membrane in the booster.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

That's great Orrie, you'll have it blowing cold air soon I imagine! I've never heard of a filter going to the brake booster. What kind of filter do you use?
As for AC~ supposed to be 104 here in Houston~ incredible!

Thanks, have missed you on the board! I had not either but apparently the gas fumes attack the inner membrane of the booster. Here is the thread, I got mine at Autozone for under $8, Dorman number.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Hey Orrie, I keep tabs on what's going on here, but since my 59 is "finished", I had bought a 71 Triumph TR6 project car, but I'm amazingly busy with other things, like there's not enough time in a day to get things done. I can't imagine having a job and keeping up with what going on~ it's all good stuff though.
Your "old" truck is coming along nicely!"

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

I always liked the TR6. Didn't they do a limited edition one at the end of the run with the aluminum v8? Don't know if I shared this before but am helping my daughter with her "new" 65 Mustang, she is third owner, no rust true 289 4 bbl car, leather buckets, factory air. All original, has not been messed with. She got it three years ago but fate intervened and a new son took priority. We expect to get back on it this winter. Carb is a correct list coded 66 Holley application, the 65 Autolite was toast and I saw bad things about them online. Fuel pressure valve was added to try and get the original Autolite to stop boiling over.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

That's a nice looking Mustang, lots of potential, or just a daily driver! I once went looking for an early Mustang, one untouched, a daily driver, pretty much like your daughters~ I just wanted one that I could drive without fear of people crashing their doors into it. But I gave up very quickly due to I know I'd start restoring it if I found one! lol We all know too well that Mustangs don't take door dings very well I hope y'all can get back to it like you said! How awesome to have a daughter which loves old cars!!!

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

yes, factory air, deluxe interior package. Original leather is in good shape, just needed a good cleaning. We have all the AC stuff, will convert to 134 since the system has been opened up and needs a new dryer anyway. Big debate is if we keep the body guard strips that were part of the deluxe package. They look like an add on, will decide how original she wants to keep it.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Installed the horns, found the wire from the horn relay to steering column had either came off the relay, or was buried in the harness and I did not notice it needed to be connected. The EZ wire literature did not say anything about needing to connect it so who knows. Nice to find that my steering column swap is going to work and for the first time since 1976 I will have a horn instead of hollering and hand gestures!

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Painted the interior side of the doors, door panels and misc. interior trim so I can finish the cab up. Went well, learned how to deal with runs in the sealer. Couple of runs in the base that will need fixed but overall ok. Also doing all the small install, glove box door, radio delete plate, etc.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Bling, cast aluminum finned air cleaner to kind of match the valve covers. I was going to paint between the fins orange to match the valve covers, but remembered the mess and problems I had with them, and decided to just keep it polished with matte in between. The air cleaner comes with two base configurations, recessed to work with cars with low hood clearance and raised to work with HEI distributor. I got the raised, it is 14" diameter. If you were to use a recessed one it would need to be 12" diameter to miss the HEI.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Got the glove box door installed. With the VA installed you cannot get to the hinge bolts, so it is not perfect. But better than before. Picture makes it look like the paint does not match, but in person I cannot see any difference. Also added the replacement horn and that is working too. Next is some touch up paint and going to do the windshield and back window jambs in finish color so I can get the glass in.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

A lot of work for a little painting. Did the windshield/cowl vent, back window, headlight and taillight area so I can get the glass and rest of wiring done. Also used the tailgate to do a bigger trial panel, wanted to make sure the color was ok (it is close to stock) and see if gray primer would work (does not paint does not cover). Left the clear off, I noticed some places in the eyebrow I want to fix. I also messed up on the mix and doubled the reducer, which is an option in the tech sheet, and thought I might have problems with runs. Turned out ok and the paint seemed to lay pretty good.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Thanks guys. Got cold fast so had to button in up for winter. Someone wanted a photo of the radio delete plate installed so here is the center dash section. I like the contrast of the black knobs on silver, chrome seems to get lost.
