Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Holy CRAP! Just got off the phone with the regional AEWC manager and that is in fact a new part number. According to him, that new offset has been out since the beginning of summer and SUPPOSEDLY they enlarged the hub bore as well specifically because of the fitment issues on our trucks. Wish like hell AEWC/Boss would have publicized this! Supposed to be immediate availability in grey and chrome for the 20x10 (didn't ask about black, or other sizes).
Now I have to decide what to do ... I've got a pair of the older chrome 20x10 (and spacers) that have tires mounted but have never been bolted on..... Brent

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I ordered one of these wheels today to test fit the front... They said it will ship out today and I should have it by the first of next week.
I ordered the 20x8.5 with the 5.25 back spacing from that guy with the ebay store. Called him and he was really knowledgable about our trucks and knew about the problem. Nice guy too. Part number AEWC part# 3387-2850-3AA One wheel was $194 shipped. I will let you guys know how it fits.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
My set of wheels only took about 10 minutes to grind just enough off to have the caps fit. They did it for free when they installed the wheels. I have the 8.5 up front also no clearance issues at all that I can see.I had some minor rubbing on the back with the 10" tire but found out my helper bags had lost all the air out of them so I pumped them up and will see it this helps any.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Well, I finally got 'em ordered. Went with Chrome Boss 338's since they finally addressed the 20x10 back spacing issue.
Going with 20x8.5's and 20x10's, 255/35R20 and 295/45R20 BFG G-FORCE KDW NT's (freakin' tires cost almost as much as the wheels!!) |

Believe it or not Discount Tire had the best deal I could find (FWIW our shop has a wholesale acct w/them so that does affect the price).

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I'm interested in the back spacing on the rear. I bought the same set up from my regular wheel guy and they told me the only backspacing available
was 6.225 on the 20 x 10's (rear). I'm happy to be running them. I got a 1" spacer for the rear for a nicer fit. And, (on the front) it took me all of 2 minutes/side with a grinder to clean up the front lip of the spindle for a perfect fit. But, that's old news. What I'd like to find out is if there really is 5.5" backspace available for the 20 x 10's in the rear (gray)...Then I'll put 'em on my "bucket list". Just for a little fatter lip back there.

There is.... I talked to the guy today about it. They have a 6.25 and a 5.5.

I wonder if it's actually a deeper lip or just more material on the hub area like Coys does on their wheels...

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I have read through most of the thread (scanned) i just picked up a 67 swb step. i want to pick up a set of these wheels thinking 18x8 and 18x9.5. I also got front spindles brakes etc off 73-87 truck for 5x5. From what i understand i will prob need a 1" to 1.25" spacer in the rear if i run the 9.5 wheel, could i just get a 6 lug to 5x5 adapter that is that width to keep from doing axles in the rear for now ?

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I'd like to see (or get a measurement on) the polished lip width on the 20 x 10's. I can't get a reading on the 8.5's other than the 3.25" inch/mm conversion.
Here's the 20 x 10 rear with 6.225 backspacing with 1" spacers on 275 45's. The truck's up on jacks in the first shot. The fronts are 8.5 x 20's with 245 40's. Thanks.

This is very interesting.
Did you take any pics of the centercap? I'd like to see how the new ones are made. |

I only have the willwood calipers... not rotors.
Is there a measurement I can take for you guys that would help?

Diameter of the hub (rotor hat) at the top and bottom (farthest and nearest the rotor surface, respectively).

My wheels (20x10 5.5 bs & 20x8.5) are in at the supplier, just waiting on the BFG G-force KDW's. I had my guy send two pics, not the best angle though.
