I saw this today, and it reminded me of this thread:

Not quite as cool looking, but about the same amount of work http://www.wimp.com/shipstretched/

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!

Just went through your entire thread and all I can say is impressive! Your fabrication skills and ingenuity are amazing!

Did you relocate the rear shock mounts for a more up-right position on your rear flip? Or were you not too concerned since you have the helper air-bag set-up.

Yes I was not worried about it because the angle I feel works good and if you need more support you can step up to a firmer shock because of the angle.

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!

Hey guys this truck is still for sale ( http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/c...ow-buck&cat=12 ) and can be had for what I feel is a giveaway price considering what has gone into this truck and its history. Also being my personal truck no corners were cut and nothing was over looked.

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!

Still love this truck! I honestly thought it had changed hands already.

How many miles have you put on her since finished? Seemed like you were really driving it a lot for a while there!

Just curious, it's way out of my price range.

I think about 17k since I started driving it but only about 7,000 miles since paint and motor swap.

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!

I will have plenty of pics but shortening the floor should be fairly simple. Take 8" off the rear section and 12" out of the front. You will want to cut the front section so it includes one of the bed mount braces since their is an extra one on LWBs. I plan on doing mine with out pulling the bed apart because it will make for a faster and easier job and it will be getting line-X'd when done.

This looks like the bed was only shortened 20 inches total.

Yes I have and I like 2 stage much better but single stays with the Low Buck idea. I would rather spend $500 on decent single stage then $500 on cheap base and clear that will start to fog and lift in a few years of being out in the sun. Plus this is a DD/beater and single is so easy to spot repair.

Show rides are nice and all but my vote goes to good looking street driven trucks every time. Call em Real Rides.
You painted the firewall black instead of blue. Any particular reason? I painted my firewall met black but with black inner fenders, rad & shroud, core support and a black engine I think it's too much and my engine is somewhat camo'd in a sea of black. My outside color will be blueish.

Looking good Kevin & as always..... killer pace. If you can be persuaded, argent-silver vs. body color on the wheels.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Kevin,... Krylon 1403 Dull Aluminum is very close to argent silver in a spray can. I agree with SCOTI,.... go for the silver!

Yes I did mine in black because I did not shave the fire wall so the Vintage Air block off plates really stood out with the old color. Now with black they kind of hide and make my EFI wiring blend better. My motor still stands out enough plus I will be painting the engine covers Blue to match the body and the under side of the hood and fenders are also blue. If this was anything more than my beater truck I would have shaved it and painted to match the body. This re-paint started off as just a scuff and shoot but that went by the way side when the rocker had to come off because so did everything else.
