Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I had a leaky stamped steel valve cover, so used it as an opportunity to get some Chevy LT-1 7-rib cast aluminum ones. GM Performance P/Ns 474207 & 474208. Fel-Pro VS 12869 T gaskets. 1-1/2 x 20" stainless bolts cut down to 1-1/4" did the trick. Bolted on this evening. Fancy for a farm truck, but I should pick up a few HP with these valve covers, yes?

That's a Mr. Gasket fuel 1-6 psi regulator on the fuel line (P/N 9710). The Edelbrock 1405 can handle no more than 4-5 psi, otherwise I get a very strong gas smell.

Moved it out of storage and to the lift. Put the new 20” Torque Thrust’s on it and I dig the new ride height.... the rear bumper AAA sticker is RaD too.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Drove to the storage yard and took the batteries out of the trailer to take back home to charge them. Some poor sap was backing his trailer into his spot and hit another vehicle...one of those tall Mercedes units. He only scraped the paint, but you know that that is going to cost a mint. He asked me to spot for him, and I did, so we got the trailer back into his parking space without further damaging the adjacent unit...or his.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Bought a new cluster, steering column, wiring harness, and radiator. And started tackling the rusted out inner cowl. Spot weld drilling in a bit.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Thanks I was pleased - I’m going to use it on the k20 this spring when I update the power steering box. Turns out the guy who built it also has a 1972 Blazer he works on.

Wired and tested gauge panel

Got it wired and bench tested. I was able to test all but the tach and oil pressure gauge. The oil pressure gauge did what it was supposed to with power on and grounding the sender terminal. I will have to wait for the final verdict when it's connected to the running motor.

Prepping my bed for paint. I’m going to give the art of painting a shot. Just trying to match the front, old paint job look. If it goes well I might paint the whole thing myself in a couple years.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got the back end of mine all done except bump stops and brake lines. Replaced the last frame cross member as mine was bent up pretty bad. Buddy that I bought my truck from has an old 68 frame so I got it from him. Strppied, primer, painted and bolted it in.
Doing some scrubbing on the rust now and will start front end work soon.

We had a dry day of opportunity, so the bench was removed to repair the beginnings of a small tear.

I picked up the bed for mine Sunday! 7hr round trip was worth every mile. Thanks to member Flashed on here.
The bed should match up very well with the cab.

Actually did it night before last but close enough. Received my first bunch of parts for the small block 400 build that will be going in Ole Greenie so went to friends place that is doing the build and unboxed and checked the parts for damage and correctness.. Next up, the heads in month or 2 maybe 3..

New 15 inch steering wheel from Ebay.
And an old lecarra horn button.
Much improved over the 88-94 wheel that was in it.

With the weather in the 50s today, I decided to take the truck for a quick ride around the neighborhood. It reminded me that I really need to try and correct the wandering steering problem I have.

OregonNed,
Holy smokes, I cannot even say how good that wood looks! Masterpiece.

I've not gotten up the nerve to start pulling the front end from under mine just yet so I scrubbed her down and rubbed on the rust a bit. Had to do some repairs on my trailer so that was about it for the weekend.
