Re: post up your camping pics
broke my stepper the other week. took the mutts up the mountain
somethin' in there... a couple seconds after this pic i was going over some rocks when i heard a slight snap. got out and looked, everything seemed alright, went to keep going and the truck headed straight for the edge and would'nt steer, something was jammed. after another closer inspection, noticed the idler arm was snapped, and it somehow hit the cv joint boot and ripped it off too. once again i had to back down a mountain with little to no steering...quite often it would jam and i would have to go forward to un-jam it. drove it 30 miles home like that. was not bad as long as the road was fairly straight or had nice wide sweeping turns. it was the 90 degree ones that caused probs. would come around the corner, it would jam and head for the ditch or the curb. a couple people prob wondering what in hell i was doing, heading for the curb, stopping, and backing up against them to try un-jam it. so it sits in the driveway till i get my income tax return to buy more parts......... |

Re: post up your camping pics
was quite a few miles out in the bush....
and came across someones tree fort. what's most amazing is someone actually packed all this waaaay out here... i only went up a couple rungs on the ladder, it's made of 7/16 plywood (!?!) not scared of heights, i'm a roofer, more scared of sub-standard construction...lol someone was really brave, or really has a lot of confidence in their "development" skills... |

corona-bored again...
as my dawgs can't see over the fence, they get bored soooo, had some scrap lumber kicking around.... now they can see over the fence (lots of people use the field behind us to dog walk) and have'nt touched the yard in a week....optimistically hopeful Rumbledawg loves sitting up there. every morn he's catching rays as the sun rises |

Nice work on the fridge install! Bummer about your steering but at least you picked a time to drive the crew when oil is under 30 bucks a barrel...

Also a little farther north the first Bell-Irving bridge was a brand new steel replacement for what had apparently been an old log bridge down closer to the river. There was no deck at all on the bridge, just a pair of planks for tire tracks laid down on the steel beams! We pulled in and camped on a steep clearing just to the left on the south side. Drove the back wheels of the pickup up on some timbers to level the trailer. It's all filled in and/or grown over now, but the same round top steel bridge is still there. That was all back in September 1977.

took the mutts up by Welch peak, weather was beauty-ous! hiked up about a 1000 feet to this old dam that was used to power steam donkeys for logging back in the early 19 century. date on the concrete was 1910 |

parked here cause there was wash outs all over the mountain from last winter's snows. might have got the crew over some of them, but the trailer would definitely not make it...

Re: post up your camping pics
well, we're not going to be able to ride to the top of Sowerby.
our snow is extremely wet and heavy. once your on the skidplates, you ain't going forward anymore... so we back tracked up Hunter valley, but this was as close as we could get to Sowerby |

Re: post up your camping pics
Looks like an awesome time. Later this summer I’m gonna try and take my K20 for a weekend trip up to my in-laws camp in the mountains here. I’ll have to add some pictures here if I do.

Re: post up your camping pics
Sorry for your loss Dude. I can only imagine how you feel over getting news like that. But mountain runs are good therapy. It looks like a good time.
Gearing up for an overnighter up on a familiar trail we've done many times this weekend. I need to have a test run before we head to Utah next month. I need some mountain time myself. Between work and dealing with the virus business, it's going to be good to be off grid for a weekend.
