Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

I was sick for a couple days there. Might have been that Linc/Truck pic...

Anyway, I thought I'd at least post up where I am right now:

This shows how much the hinge box had to be cut down in order to get the hinge as close to the door skin as possible. I still need to add a second bolt hole on the upper end of the hinge box:

Added more vertical support:

POR-15

inside the door while I have access:

Just a foam brush and looooong gloves.

Here's the latest. The door is hung! The hinge needs more reinforcement from below as planned and the whole thing will need some adjustment, but it's on there and opens/closes. I'll let the pics do the rest:

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

Two questions:

1) I spied your welder in the back ground. Could you tell me the model, power rating and duty cycle? Is that the welder you used to weld your frame? I am currently, uh "extending" my education and taking some welding classes.

2) Do I see the reason that progress has slowed in the background in the last pic?

I really shouldn't be sittin' at the desk stareing at your work, gotta go to the shop!

Bill.
Thanks Bill
I hope I inspired you to get out there! I know this board has done that for me more than once

It's a craftsman believe it or not. Just a 110 too. It's supposed to be able to do 1/4" plate in one pass (one very slow pass). I did do the frame susp work with it, but I run it as hot as possible, slowly, and weld both sides. It's a solid machine for sure. Great for bodywork. A 220 would be nice for faster heavy work though. If you want the specs on it I can get them.

On the second question; If anything I get more time in the shop because of her It's the three kids that try to slow me down and she runs interference My full-time job plus full-time school she can't help me with though...

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

You are an unbelievable artist, if i wore a hat it would be off to you!!! just a question since obviously you are great at coming up with stuff, i want my engine compartment to look original (hence i want to use the original style inner fenders) have you done yours yet ?? i sort of got the idea from your pictures that you might be doing this also, mine sets like yours in the front i think i am running the same size tires and wheels, i had to arch my fenders like yours also.. anyway i wanted to see if you had pictures of yours so us less imaginative people could copy yours....Thanks

Hey thanks Here's the link to the fenders. Haven't stretched the inners to match yet.

BTW guys, I am taking a little break from this project to drop a new engine/tranny in the Sunbeam.

...to be continued...

Very nice choice!!!

Now if you can just get the car balaced and set up to handle as well as an
S2000. Those cars handle awesome.

Brake upgrades will definitely be needed though.

Thumbs up Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

WOW! I have been away for about a year & just finished checking out all the progress on your Tahoe. Awesome work. You really do have the skills to pay the bills. Looks like the rear lift-gate hinge idea turned out well too!
Please keep us posted. Brad
