Re: What did you do to your truck today!

it was a blast but most deffinately nerve wracking and i eas really nervous cause i saw two cops. a stock 307 open header sounds awesome the only problem was driving on the high way with a 3 on the tree she sure was loud then.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I installed a new rear view mirror in my passenger door, the door never had one so I had to measure the drivers mirror about twenty times before I was happy enough to drill holes in my new paint! The new mirror is beautiful compared to the old one on the drivers side, now I have to replace that one! While I had the door panel off I installed a bunch of 1/2" thick rubber sheeting on the inside of the doors, what a big difference in the way the door sounds now! Sounds very solid when you close the door and driving is a lot quieter!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed a new master cylinder and power booster and discarded my 41 year old master cylinder. I am excited I don't have to use all the muscle in my legs to stop my truck like Fred Flitsone did.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Welded a 5" long crack on the rear of my frame right where the bumper mounts, not too sure how it got there, the bumper i took off was welded to the frame so ether it was welded because the frame was cracked somehow? or it cracked from being welded? the crack was almost directly in the center of and parallel to the welds.

Also made and mounted a ground strap for my fuel cell and ran the sending unit wire up to the cab but did not terminate the cab end yet.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Bought some more Ralley wheels for it .I am currently running 6" van ralleys ,but now also have a set each of 7" and 8" truck ralleys .Now I need to figure out what is wrong with the sand blaster I borrowed so I can get them all blasted and painted and decide which ones to keep. My wife thinks it strange that I have 4 sets of wheels for one truck .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finally finished tearing out all the original ducting for the A\C and heater. Taped/ pappered everything up and now ready to start sanding and primer, sometime this week. As soon as I get a chance I'll post up some pics.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I've had another productive day! I finally had some time to take the grill out and sand it down smooth and paint it white. I also installed new head light bezels and my new chevy bowtie.

Everything had been coming along smoothly which is definitely nice!

Worked on the bed wood today. Cut it all down to size. I still need to notch the boards. But its looking like a truck bed again.

Best part is both my sons worked on this with me.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

bed looks nice, I opened up all 8 boxes from CPP drooled a bit, turned the heater on in the shop, dropped off my lower ball joints to be pressed in and as soon as they are ready I pick them up and head into a hopefully somewhat warm shop and start painting all the new parts and final coat my frame in preparation for the rest of my parts needed to do the install of all my parts

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Removed A-arms, shafts, and ball joints. Massive torque and 1-5/8" socket required to loosen the lower A-arm shaft bushings. Lower ball joints were a piece of cake using my handy-dandy ball joint press. Probably spent more time popping the tie rod ends loose.

Hope to get at least the upper A-arms cleaned-up, painted, and assembled tomorrow. Using Moog parts that were made in the USA back in the late 90s. Sadly, I'm not sure they're still made here.

The fun of it all!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

put a new hei distributer in. The old rotor moved about a 1/4 inch. The rotor was hitting the contacts in the cap. How it ran is beyond me.

67 slider I like the bed. Most people avoid knots but for some reason I like the character.

I walked by mine and ran my hand down the side as I went outside to work on the septic system.

LOL I had to do the same thing about 3 months ago, oh my aching back!!

I removed my exhaust from the headders back, shortened the pipe to and installed and welded in new mufflers, have the pipes routed out to front of the rear tires for the time being but ran out of daylight so will finish the hanging and welding tomorrow. when money allows i'll have a muffler shop route some new tailpipes.
