Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
This truck has the perfect stance. How tall of a tire are you running front and rear?

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
THanks. 17 inch rims all around, with a 30" tall tire in the rear(255 55 17) and I think a 27" tall tire in the front(235 50 17).

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
Started on the headers. I've got to get them dialed in, or at least mocked up to cut the floor and push it forward. #7 down, now for the rest.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
Since I moved the engine back i had to move the mounting holds of the engine mounts, trans and also cut a hole for the shifter to come through as close to the seat as I could go. I had to also make an offset for the shifter to clear the seat.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
Checking clearance between the throttle body and electric fans. Going to have to try and find a 25 degree, 4 inch elbow for the intake and go strait down between the fans with it since the intake is slanted down in the front. I shouldn't have any cooling issues with all that exposure, hopefully. I also had to offset the NoLimit rack and pinion mount. With the strong arms there was no clearance, so I cut off the mounts and offset them about 3/8" up.

Thanks Astronaut! It's been slow for the past few years but I'm getting out there when I can and inching along.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
So, after trying to fit and tack the header pipes on the truck, I finally figured out that I needed to create a mock up, make a jig and fit them up on my work bench. Here's where I got the idea: www.stainlessheaders.com
Great video series. This is tougher than I thought it would be, but well worth it. I just need to fit number 5, tack it together and then check it on the truck. Then the fun part, welding them all up. Oh yeah and then the other side.

This is still one of my favorite builds on here, I'm going to use some of your ideas on my 64 build I'm going to start soon.

Got the hood hinges in. I just need to weld the mounts to the hood and bolt it up.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
Thanks guys.
I had some time yesterday, so I mocked up the passenger side headers. I repeat, if you're going to do this, do it right the first time and make the mock ups, the jig and weld them up on the bench. It saves a ton of time. Now I know exactly what bends to order too. This header looks a little crazy but it's got to bend around the starter and A-arm pivot. They're not quite equal length, but should flow pretty well. The angle makes it look like they hang down past the frame rail, but they're 3 inches above the bottom of the oil pan, so if I hit the headers on something when I'm driving I'll have bigger problems.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
Now there's a technique I haven't seen before. Inexpensive and easy to work with. Too bad it wouldn't take the heat, you'd be done!

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
I am purely intrigued by the build of the headers!
That is sooooo trick!... How good of a TIG welder are you? LOL! Do you have a set-up to fill the tubes with inert gas while welding? Do the tubes really need to be equal length? or is it more critical that the exhaust pulses reach the collector at equal intervals because of the firing-order to create a scavenging effect? Sorry for all of the questions!

Very interesting build. AS mentioned, watching you do the headers is wild!

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
I got the hinge mounts welded on to the bottom of the hood and mounted it up. Damn is that hood heavy. I can't wait to cut it into 3 pieces. Stay tuned.
