The cab is booked in on the 11th and hope to get it back on the 18th then the real work will start

Yesterday I picked up a garage door on free cycle , for the concrete garage I am replacing the shed with . Having an up and over door means more access getting things in and out .

The concrete garage I got . The front will be an up and over door instead of this setup . I plan on using these windows and door on the side

The door I collected Free of charge

And if ordering parts for the truck counts as truck time then I ordered one of these

I also ordered a second one for someone else he knows who it is but I will let him tell you or post it on his thread .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

With the Mercedes now gone , and the truck back on track . The parts list is slowly coming down . I ordered my bedsides from one of the forum members Nsane hot rods . Paul ( NevEno ) gave me his details. That's where he got his from . So I ordered them on Thursday and getting them sent to Ron at STS imports . DeWayne promised to get them there by Monday the 13th as the container leaves on the 14th . Then it's about 6weeks . I have used Ron before , getting my hood and fenders and bumpers to the UK . so what was the best , and cheapest way to get the bedsides to te UK . Now the hard bit WAITING.......

All being well and it stays dry on Sunday I plan getting the hole in the transmission tunnel welded up so its ready for blasting and priming . It's booked in on Saturday the 11th

Very nice!! Looking back on my build I should have just bought new bedsides. It would have saved a lot of time. I am sure there are lots of things you can do to the truck will you wait.

Clem, you are totally right. He is now focussed on the prize.

Unfortunately in life at times we have to stand down till the storm passes. I know this too.

But Martin has now hit it with a new level of energy and commitment.

Even today, I know he is out working overtime at his day job so he can keep his focus and drive his build. I am just headed to my garage.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well I got a little more done today on the cab . With if going to the blasters next weekend , I decided it would make more sense , to weld up the hole in the transmission tunnel .

I think the previous owner should have purchased a grinder with a cutting wheel . If you think the dash was bad take a look at the hole he cut in the tunnel . I think they used a coal chisel and the a pair of grips to bend the cut metal over .

The under side

So first I cleaned up the part I cut from my old cab floor

I then welded in the new part

After welding it in I cleaned it up

Then I welded up the hole that was for the second tank

I also welded up the holes left after I removed the jack brackets on the floor .

So with the floor all cleaned up it's ready for blasting next week .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well just a quick update

This morning I went to collect a parcel from the post office . What had arived was my rear camera . The 1969-72 rear bumper has extra holes that they used to hang them on when they chrome plate them . So myself and Rian have been looking for different solutions to fill the holes .my solution is this . If all goes well I will order a second one for aspheric reasons only

The plan is to build somthing similar to house my double din stereo , with a rear view camera facility on it

BUT BEST OF ALL
I got an email this evening to inform me that my panels have arrived in Florida at the shippers . They have arived in time to make the container leaving on the 14th . So it's a Big thank you to DeWayne at Nsanehotrodz for promising to get them there by the 14th so now it's just a case of waiting for the ship to arrive .

Great service has to be shared and commended.

Really pleased the panels are moving that fast.

Rear camera will be a neat trick.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well Thursday night , Rian and Stephen came over , to give me and my neighbour Trevor a hand to load my cab onto his trailer . First I had to move the bikes , then the chassis to make way for the cab to be rolled through the carport .

The cab being rolled up the drive by myself , Stephen and Trevor . Note Rian had to hold the phone to take the pictures .

Then it was loaded onto the trailer , notice no photos as it took all four to lift it on . Ready to take it after work on Friday to the blasters .

I Did think about tying my Rottweiler to it over night in case Ian or Bill sneaked down from up north to grab it .

Before any comments , yes I know it's on the back of a FORD and it couldn't tow a complete one .
All being well I should get it back by next Saturday . Then the real work will start a few repairs on the cab the YES reassemble . I have been so looking forward to this point

It's important to recognize your skills profiles - Grizz does photo's and witty and informative commentary, you do lifting heavy stuff

Joking apart, great progress, must be a great feeling to be entering the 'putting it back together' stage.

Ahhhhh yes Mr Disasterbus.......

I am always surprised how the photos I take, end up in people's build threads

Looking at the slight incline if the drive, I just need to clarify that I actually did help push it up the first part and then stepped back to take the photos.

These threads and pics are for the entertainment of many of us, and the education of others, we learn from each other.

Anyway, Martin has delivered the cab now, next up we will see it painted in the lairiest of Kawazaki Geens to burn the eyeballs off most of us.

One is for certain the inside is going white like the one below

As for the outside colour I am still thinking what to do its a toss up between these . I like the black two tone but can't find one in black and green .

Or as Rian said the Kawasaki Green

This was my original choice Orange and White

Or good old fashioned Black but with Green insert

Decisions decisions any thoughts welcome
