Re: How about some pics of 99-06

Guess I'm a bit late to respond to this but .......forum says my '99 is a GMT800, always thought of it as a GMT400. OBS and being a '99 makes it a un-loved cousin maybe?

My 2WD daily with a 5.7 Vortec, cloth interior, rear cargo doors, (which I prefer over the hatch offering), usual P/S, A/C, tilt...etc. Bit of a plain jane as it were but I like it. Added the square body rally wheels after purchase. Paint shows some wear but runs good, 230K on the clock.

I would still say that's a GMT400 or OBS, probably just the Tahoe/Suburban holdover after the pickup truck model change. Looks like a good rig. Mine is a 93 and has similar miles and I'm still really glad to have it and enjoy driving it.

The 99 & 2000 SUV were still GMT400 trucks

The 1987 to '92 RV pickup trucks & SUVs were made alongside the 1988 to '92 CK T400 pickups.

GM did the same thing with the T400 trucks & SUVs and T800 chassis trucks in 1999 and 2000

The T800 & T900 were both available in 2007

Re: How about some pics of 99-06

Here are some pictures of my 2005 Chevy short bed. It is a cheap work truck model so it has crank windows, no cruise, rubber flooring and virtually no options. I bought the truck back in 2018 and have put about 80,000 miles on it. I put an oil pump and rear main seal/pan gasket in the original 4.8 at about 150,000 miles. The 4L60 was rebuilt at around 130,000 miles. I rebuilt the front end at about 175,000 miles. The truck is very reliable transportation and I drive it back and forth to work daily.

A few years back, I bought a 2005 LQ4 6.0 engine on the cheap. It had a cam bearing and oil pump issue. I slowly rebuilt the 6.0 in my shop as funds and time allowed. I stripped the 6.0 down to the bare block and the cylinders had very little wear. I cleaned it up, honed it with a ball hone and put it back together with new rings, main/rod/cam bearings. The crank looked perfect so it just got a polish. I put in a cheap mild Summit camshaft (209/217 .550 .550 112) and I opted for the LS7 style factory GM lifters. The heads were just freshened up with a valve job, surface job, new LS7 springs and seals. I finished it out with a new oil pump, water pump, gaskets and seals throughout.

Recently, I pulled the 4.8 and installed the 6.0. The engine runs very well and I have put around 2,000 miles on it since the rebuild. Since the original 3:23 10 bolt had been making a little noise, I also added a 3:73 14 bolt positrac from a wrecked 05 SS pickup. Between the engine and rear axle, it has added life to the truck. It doesn't run as well as my 79 454 powered step side but it does run very well for what it is.
