Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Thank you sir! The complement I had the other day, the guy next to me at a stop said "like what you've done to the bed" and I thought... I didn't do anything, it's stock

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Here you go: "Use 220 grit wet/dry sandpaper and a sanding block. Rep rime area and use 400 grit for final sanding. All materials used are dupont from self etching primer for bare metal to epoxy primer for blocking bodywork areas. Dupont Chromabase is the color of choice for us"

While GG is a month out, and there isn't much left to the build, the odds are slim to none. I'm not even a GG member

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Membership is no big deal. You can stil pre-register I believe. If I can get mine ready to be there, you can too.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
I just looked up the details. If I'm reading it right, it looks like $35 (Gold Membership) per year just to be a member, and an additional $55 for Show & Shine - to be able to park and display a vehicle (72' and older) at the IA State fairgrounds for 3 days. So, $100 a year - if I only wanted to participate in the Show & Shine. Sound about right?

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
You don't have to do a gold membership. You can do a silver for $20 and it's another $55 to take your truck in for all 3 days. And if you pre-register, you save an additional $10. Is it a little pricey? Maybe to some. It's $21.67 per day. Cheap compared to some of the shows I've entered. Also, to me it's one of the best shows in Iowa. You get to see 4000+ cars and trucks, and drive yours around inside to save on walking and stuff.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Doesn't sound too pricey for what it's worth, weather permitting and all. Growing up I'd get around to shows (Porky's etc...) but that wore off over the years so I'm not all about that so much as I would be just being there kickin back + food. I learned how to drive a car at the fairgrounds (off season) when I was 5.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
I like watching the people trying to figure out what this engine is in this car.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Thanks! I'm very fortunate to have a skilled, bad ass brother! Don't need people to chime in all the time with compliments, frankly I can do without (not expected, but appreciated) and we are aware of the quality he produces consistently. I've enjoyed sharing all the work, progress and pictures with all.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
I wasn't speaking directly to you. These forums are for cheerleading? mEh, my intent was to share the build to educate. Hope it's helped some.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Your project is looking good.
If you make it out to GG's we'll see you there. I'll probably bring a black 65 Chevelle convertible this year, and my son in law will bring a yellow 2WD Blazer. I may haul the 65 with the Longhorn. We usually park over on the east side by the round livestock building. I love the Bronze. We built a Med Bronze, big block with air Cheyenne back in the eighties. It was deluxe two tone and we did cream instead of white, rallies with whitewalls. I wouldn't do the cream now, but it made the cover of Corvette and Chevy buyers guide. Sold it to a guy in Chicago.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Thanks man. Sounds like one heck of a line up Got a pic of the cover? I considered doing a Dover White (69 Chevelle) but changed my mind. Still considering GG. Things should begin to pick up next week with paint/assembly.
