Re: Crash's 69 K10
Just spent the last hour looking through you thread! Awesome build! I think your truck looks great. I'm sure your right. I bet it does look better in person. Is there anything that you wish you would have done different?

There are a few things I might have done different.. but nothing major, and nothing that would change the outcome of how it looks. If I did it again: • I would have tried to find a better truck to start with.. This one is a cut down LWB (frame), it doesn’t really make a difference to me, but some people (on this board and others) don’t think much of that.. It most likely will affect the value of the truck if I ever decided to sell. I know the truck needed work, but did not know that both differentials need to be replaced/rebuilt. • I would have taken more time on the painting of the frame. It looks good, but there are a few runs that I wish were not there. Not a biggie, but I know where they are. • I think I might have used an original seat(s). I really like the way the late model seats feel, but they look a little out of place. Not sure on this one.. more work to come on this one. • I cut out the back of the cab for a late model brake light.. I would not do that again. Kyle had to repair that for me. • Used a later model (77-79) steering gear box (closer ratio) – I may still do this. • Built my own front cross member/Engine cradle. The Pacific Fabrication is OK.. But I have a good friend (McBassin) that could build a much nicer and better fitting one… • Maybe used a modern radio (cutout the dash). I like the retrosound, it looks great, but not sure it has all the features that I would really like to have. Sounds like a lot.. but it really is small stuff that doesn’t mean that much… Overall I really like how it all turned out.

Line-X does a pretty good job, don't they? I'm sure the pix don't do it justice.

Re: Crash's 69 K10
Thursdays project… Oldest daughter decided to see how far her car could go without changing or checking the oil.. Looks like 45000 miles was just about right.. pull-a-part offered $200 to $300, decided to but an engine in it and flip it… interesting process..
Fridays project.. Highly recommended, one of the best things I have done to the truck... 77 to 79 gearbox.. 3.25 turns Lock to Lock as opposed to the stock 67-72 of 4.25 lock to lock.. Made a world of difference in the way it feels and drives. The steering feels much tighter… This evening I spent some time with the wife on the lake.. it was awesome..

Re: Crash's 69 K10
She must be a patient woman like mine!
Your truck turned out great! I am envious sir! You can always separate the ones that slap a project together and the ones that actually spend the time and do things right. Your truck was done right for sure. A complete package that should give years of reliable service. Did you pull the boat with her?

Re: Crash's 69 K10
45000 miles? I didn't think a Toyota required any oil.
You daughter isn't the first. My brother dated a girl that bought a new car a few years ago and didn't think the oil had to be changed until the light came on. She made it to about 25,000.
