Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Looking good John
That must be about 11:1? I see some port work on those heads and some beehive springs? Should be a strong running 327.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Thanks for the comments, guys!
Those are Icon forged units on 6" Scat rods. I had the domes milled a bit for a target 11.0:1. The machinist used the component specs instead of a four-corner mock up for the deck job and told me they'd be 0.010" in the hole, so I bought 0.030" x 4.060" laminated head gaskets for a 0.040" squish. Well, once we got it all together it comes pretty darned close to a zero deck! The heads are 461s that I had cut for 2.02x1.60 valves. I had chambers cut to unshroud the intake and used 8mm valves. Chambers came out to 65cc. All the runners are gasket ported and worked a little bit. Actual CR is looking closer to 11.2:1. I'm going to run with that and will punt if detonation is an issue. A 0.040" x 4.100" gasket will knock a few points off it. Knuckles has also been showing me an Engine Masters episode where they compared AFR heads to the Camel Humps. We're hoping to get back on the tools this week.

Look what I saved from the dump! They only did the nickel doors in Post Falls. Might be some of your handy-work? I'm going to clean it up and make a few truck bux!

Dang, John, wouldn't Vintage Air take up a lot less space under the dash?

Haha, yeah I built a few of those back in the day. That one was likely built up in Hayden. Too bad it isn't a Grandma Bear or something. It would be easier to sell and for more $$$

Ya, not many fireplaces to retrofit these days. It's a solid house heater tho!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Thanks for the comments! I was going to roll that hood outside for a photo but we got a good RAIN! We've been socked in with smoke for a month anyways, so I still haven't seen the real color. As soon as we have a nice clear day I will.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
The buff continues! Knucks has done 90% of the sanding and buffing. There are a few small areas that need a little more love but we were able to pin the cab down for good and assemble the front clip. Gaps look great, super happy! Went to the box stores looking for S4S oak but that was an $1100 ticket - F that! I'm going to have to go to the other lumber store and get some 4/4 live edge to do the bed floor. My neighbor has an overhead sander, we'll see how well we get along! I know he's got a four wheeler that won't start... I also got my big box from Summit (finally). The little mouse is going together but still have some details to work out. The fires out here are piddling out and we're getting back on the bikes so weekend truck time will be cut but winter is right around the corner!
Stay tuned, boys!.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Thanks, dudes! The weather has allowed us to get back out in the woods, so truck time has been limited. Pissing rain now, so I went and bought some Red Oak for the bed floor. I'm really looking forward to this piece of the puzzle! Like I said, it's pissing rain. These boards got a little wet, so I'm letting them dry for a minute before I start milling them. I'm on bbq duty right now, Knucks is taping that motor up for some paint! Pics coming...

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
No riding today! We're going to get rolling on this thing again. I used the dimensions off GMC Paul's bed wood pages. We'll see!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Got this about like this now too! Gotta sort out valve cover gaskets, then mill the spacers as much as I can. I've got the Pro-Billet dizzy and wires that I'm going to fit up while it's on the stand. I'm running the wires down, then up the bell housing.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Man, life is a whirlwind! I'm whizzing through my 50's, still trying to impersonate my 20-something self. I'm dusting this thing off again, swear I'm going to drive it in '23. We definitely made it further than I last updated here but it hasn't been touched in several months. I gave the shop a good clean-up last weekend, then started trying to pick up where we left off. I'm struggling with engine accessory brackets and wire harnessing / routing. We laid some stuff out and looked at a bunch of photos on the web. We have a plan.
I'm just going to photo dump here to try and get this thread up to speed. I'm sorry that I haven't been able to keep it fresh.
