so without reading through 50+ pages of jibber jabber, can someone confirm or deny if the new wheels do or do not fit '72 front rotors without having to grind the hub?

No.
You will have to grind the hub. Period.
Just like in the picture.

I personally would rather have the 5.25" BS on a 8.5" wide front wheel.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

Finally scrounged enough cash together to get everything done. Looks pretty good. Now to lower the rear 1-2". I need functionality so no more dropping for me. 20x8.5 front 20x10 rear.

Must have light-duty (1") or aftermarket rotors up front.

I went with the Ridler 695 in Chrome for my bagger stepside....20x10 rear and 20x8.5 fronts with Hankook 245/45 front and 275/45 rears......Love the stance and look.

Are the new runs direct bolt on or does truck still need modified for fit?

depends on who you talk to and what rotors your truck has on the front.
I just did a 72 with 1-1/4 thick rotors and they bolted right on, but I have discovered they are aftermarket rotors, I am looking into it right now. I will have good info in the next day or two.

Can you get the 22's in the charcoal centers with the polished lip like all the other sizes?

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

I personally have not seen any 1-1/4 rotors that don't require grinding.
Seems like the new parts store rotors are more bulky than oem GM rotors.
But how many trucks on the road today still have their originally installed rotors?

A sandpaper flap disc on a grinder will solve any issues.
