Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

For guys from the UK who may read on here, thought I would copy and paste.

I was given two of these, taken out of a Peugeot 807 people carrier.

Kept one, offered one to mate Martin as he wanted to convert his C10 truck to bucket seats with a folder in the centre.

Free to collector, Rochester, Kent.

It is 18 inches wide.

Fold down the back and you have a table with cup holders.

Please PM if you want it.

First PM gets it.

No messers please. Mrs Boss wants it out the house, or else it's pavement time.

ALSO........

Free to collector.

I bought this at the weekend for my mate, but he does not want it.

Free to collector

Please PM.

First PM gets it.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

In this day and age religion is often frowned upon, but I have met some of the most amazing people from various religions over time.
From Buddhists to Sikhs, through Muslims and Christians and everything inbetween, there are many good people out there and if you do not allow yourself to be swayed by petulant religious opinion, the world is an awesome place with the odd idiot inbetween trying to make it rubbish for others.

I have had these crucifixes running around in my head for a long time.

Today at the one bootfair, I bought a handful of carpenters nails for 50p though the seller had agreed to 20p, I did not have the heart to take the change.

Came home and welded these up for my friend Ta2Don in Arkansas to stick in his Tattoo shop.

A little bit of prep, some quick mig welding and we have three crosses.

Followed by some finishing off on the linisher in the woodwork shed, mounted on a bit of old fence post I still have not figured out what to do with.......

For those of the Christian faith, the story should be fairly apparent.

Job done.

Will get these to Don when we go over on this Road trip in October http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=653025

Definitely looking forward to it.

Thanks buddy. In the post already since last week, on their way to Don.

Been a bit busy getting ready for my job change the last few weeks, finish the current job on Friday, new job Tuesday.

In the industry I am in, it is very academically driven, and all new knowledge needs to be learned and tests/exams have a non negotiable 85% pass rate.

So just when I thought I would spend some time on the truck while on holiday before leaving my current job, the training files etc got here........ Need I say more?

Anyway, those that know the truck will recall that I need to replace my door check straps as the passenger door is very knackered after at least two previous contacts with the front fender edge.
I already had the repair panels for the speaker holes in both doors, and the bad crease on the outside of the PS door but still needed to buy some Jeep Cherokee door check straps.

In stepped a hero from South Carolina and offered me his spare set, including the rubber grommets already prepped and ready to fit, along with some door pins as well.

Nicola and I went away for 5 days to the UK's Jurassic Coast to search for fossils and just spend some time together as the rest of this year will be rough from a job point of view, and of course I am off to the USA in October on a road trip with mate Martin.

Many roads signed like this, no mobile or internet, no Starbucks or McDonalds. Refreshing.

Our fossil finds. 170million years old.

So today I went to the Post Office to collect a parcel........

Came home, opened it and found these in it.

Thank you very much friend, these will be saving me a lot of pain in future.

On Saturday I am off to go look at a passenger door off a '64 as well, which has no speaker hole, and seems to be crease free, though not perfect with a bit of ruse, and dents on the bottom edge, at £200.00, the price the seller is asking is more than I would like to pay, but if you do the maths and include all the welding and potential warping on my door, it kind of makes sense to buy this door.

Seems Martin may have a complete cab for his truck as well, again not cheap, but less pain than patching his rusted cab, which is recoverable, but tipped in favour of the replacement unit.

Killed the door pic in case someone identified it and bought he cab and doors before Martin could get to them...... He called me when I posted as it has happened before where people go I to a bidding war, so I will take better more detailed pics once the door is safely here.

Thank you.

Religious iconography is a whole art form in itself.

If you start looking around inside the Christian faith, go look at the Orthodox versions, and then go to the others, there is a lot of beauty focussed on the iconography as it is so central to beliefs.

Think about how central it is, that it would have people killing each other in the name of a god. Probably the biggest killer out there....... Religion.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Amazingly, it is 25 months since I came back from this awesome road trip with my brother http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/inde...topic=106063.0

Today also marks the last day with the company I have worked successfully for, for the last 25 months.

Headed into a much more intense, focussed market from Tuesday. Absolutely pooping myself, but like before, these new roads, challenges will be mastered and make my life better.

Just hope the new job allows me time for my hobbies, myself and my family.

The next few months will certainly be rough.

I can relate - I work a job with periods of intense activity which often takes up much of my time. I have found that it is an excellent opportunity to make plans, dream, research, order parts, etc so that I can make more efficient progress when I do get time to get a spanner or a ratchet in my hand (whatever you brits call it). Staying current on this forum has also been helpful even if I'm not contributing to my own build thread.

And from a more personal note, make sure you are very intentional about how you spend whatever free time you do have. A written list of priorities helps keep things in proportion. You probably shouldn't run straight to the garage without taking Nicola out for some face time first.

I wish you much success with your new job, and I look forward to seeing more updates when you can get to it. We'll be here when you get back.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Sorry for the double post Rian's iPad has been returned to his old job so he asked me to post this on his thread

Well what can I say , that was one busy day . It started with meeting Rian at the local services at 9am . Then off to Essex to meet up with a guy called Dell . A few weeks ago I went to his place after work one evening, to collect a big back window cab section unfortunately it was to rusty to use. But after chatting to him for a while he told me he was possibly going to break one of his trucks . Having three of them a long bed stepper , his own daily driver on full air ride and a second truck that is up for sale . So after making him an offer for his cab and a drivers door , as well as bending Rian's ear about having the passenger door . With some help from Don . A deal was done .
On arriving at 10am as arraigned we found Dell had already stripped most of the outer front panels off .

This is as it was as we pulled up

The blue truck is his daily driver

This is the one he has for sale

This is Dell and his son I think his son found the V8 running a bit loud

Once again our cab lifter came in handy . In fact just to show how easy it is we got Dell's wife to operate it while holding his baby in her other hand

See clip below
http://youtu.be/vfTC9wyQKK0

Not much left of the truck

Here's a sight you don't see to often a ford towing a Chevy home

Once home Rian helped me unload it into my carport

Just a little update.i forgot to mention Rian's parts after meeting up with Rian,as he always
offers to help . But this time there was a good reason to come with me . I had convinced him that getting a door was the right way to go . He also said he Was interested in the inner fenders after I told him they were in mint condition . He wasn't disappointed While we were stripping the cab of all its internal parts he decided he would also have the custom heater box . Dell also let him have the cab mount rubbers , as I didn't need them.

This is Rian's heater

These are his inner fenders

The cab mounts

His door

Then there was the seat he said he would be interested in swapping his factory bench seat for this setup but it would be a question of him running it past (Mrs kemp ) the boss

So all in all not a bad day for every one including Dell's wife as you can see from the smile she was pleased to see one of his three trucks to go

Thank you for the uploads Martin.

I am so bloody frustrated with my PC and the fact that I cannot save images to a file from any Yahoo emails.

Always a day well spent when it is truck stuff Ian.

Sorry about the phone yesterday, tried to call you a couple of times on the road but calls kept failing.

If I get striping done it will be a bit more than just the box. So it will have to fall neatly into the budgeting line along with all the other "things" that need doing.

Now that would be telling.

Yup, it has worked a few times now, and every time you get named, shamed and pointed out, right down to your Zip code

People continue to be amazed.

Looking at my old door, it is good, but not good enough.

Today's Bootfair bounty.

All items except the side cutters at £1.00 were 50p

Router bits from a joinery shop.

Screwdrivers and side cutter from a local college.

Old Phillips and flat screwdriver, pin hammer from a deceased estate.

Found this little fridge magnet in Del's truck while stripping it for Martin yesterday.

Quite liked it.

Would guess its a few years old.

When last did you see one of these water transfer stickers?

Found someone on R&S selling these today, and thought why not.....?

As most of my trucking family are concentrated in Arkansas, it only seemed the right thing to do, but the AK one.

Looking forward to getting that on my quarter vent window after the resto.
