I picked it up in Shawnee (Craigslist ). I pulled only the intake and valve covers. All was in good condition and clean. It runs super smooth. Well it did a year ago.

Working on the doors.
10-4 on the JB weld. Chevy blocks can't take any pressure from ice. I've seen a few busted blocks here too. That was the first for me.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Looks good I had to do some welding and patch along the bottom of mine too. How are they around the hinge areas?

Thanks Chris. Both doors had small stress cracks around the hinge area. These weren't noticeable until I blasted them. I literally have 18 doors on my place and this was one of the best. The pass. Side I picked up on Craig's a few weeks ago. "Mint" condition other than the speaker hole. Well, mint it's not but way better than my driver side. I only fixed this one cause I wanted to challenge myself

Thanks, I'm not sure my ways are "right" but I try to do it the best way I know how. I like to pass on any info I can about fixing these old trucks.

Pictures of my "mint" door:

I was so concerned with not wanting to fix rust on the inside I neglected to check the outside thoroughly. If you guys are buying used doors. Look them over real good inside and outside. This one looked great until I started blasting it. Plus I paid a little more than I should have.

Sometimes you cannot see it until you blast it. I found places on mine that felt very solid. I even poked at some of it with a screwdriver. After it was blasted you could see holes where the rust was..

Nice work on the rust repair! Are you gearing up for a super fishing season? Or, is the dry weather affecting that too?

Yeah this door didn't really have any noticeable blistering just what looked like light surface rust. It's pretty much a given if it's an oem door anywhere but in the desert, it will have rust in the corners or bottom. They just didn't make them to not rust.

Bummer on the cab. Hope you can recover some of your investment. I am glad to have my cab repaired. I think I got "all" the rust.

Thanks Ryan. Yep we are in the middle of a two year drought and the lakes are at all time lows. We have already moved some tournaments. Hope the floodgates open in spring. We are planning to head to Zapata, Tx again in a month. Hope they get some rain too.
