Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

I’m not sure if this is a good thread to post this or not... it’s not what I did to my rig but what I found for my rig today.

I (my father-in-law) recently found these 48 year old photos of my rig when it was new.

The story:
I got my Blazer from my father-in-law, who bought it when it was brand new. The rig was originally purchased in South Carolina. He recently found these old photos he took of it when it was new (it didn’t even have the license plates yet and it shows the odometer at 2,850 miles). The photos were more about him getting familiar with his camera than the rig but it’s still pretty cool. He took these while he was stationed at Fort Gordon and was receiving training on a camera from the army.

The photos are crisp and not faded or damaged but the paper is a bit wavy. I’ll have them digitally photographed with a high quality camera under glass to preserve them.

Anyway, I thought it was cool and wanted to share.

Very cool to have original photos and a great story to go with it!

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

also hooked my overflow tank, been puking antifreeze for 20 some years, but didn't worry since I just finally got the engine running[url=https://flic.kr/p/2j8oVsJ]20200603_072930

then I did the brakes for the second time, bought rebuilt from NAPA, surprised at the quality and price, new banjo bolts and copper crush washers, and pins for the pads, no more leaking at the bleeder screw

I have a new grommet for mine - my old one is a little dried out at cracked. But I’m scared to wreck my paint. Was it tough to replace?

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Not really, just used two dull screw drivers, and only pushed on the rubber. one screw driver used to keep grommet in place and the other to feed the grommet around, start at the notch at the bottom

I did remove the 4 mounting screws for the filler neck

The best ones come from Wes at classic , I think they may have a lifetime replacement

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Getting the windshield gutter ready to seam seal it. Got all the nearly 50 year old sealer and silicon removed and sanded it down to bare metal. It's ready for primer and new seam sealer. nicest gutter I have ever seen!

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Today I:
-Adjusted my fast idle screw
-Adjusted my prop valve (rears were locking up under hard braking)
-Bent my gas pedal slightly (I wasnt able to get to WOT)
-Changed my oil (100 miles on new engine)
-Figured out why my right front blinker wasnt working (wire connection at core support came undone)
-Adjusted my tire pressure (30 front 26 rear)
-Installed a trans temp gauge
-Chasing a small power steering leak in my hydraboost system

No, I just cleaned them up with 409. The rear seat is original too.

Every day I worked on this truck, I realized how lucky I was as it was so well maintained by the original owner.

I still have the original bill of sale with all documentation and the protecto plate. The guy traded in a '69 Dodge Charger and $20.00 down. LOL!

Unfortunately, he passed a few years back and I was able to purchase from his Daughter.
