are you glad you went with the braid kit over the $100? engine looks great!

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
I found other braid kits out there but they would have cost nearly $100 anyway, it is a nice product though. The engine looks "ok", I don't think the paint is that durable and will more than likely fall off within 6 months. I honestly plan to pull the engine someday and run a new crate motor, that's what happens when you save money by not rebuilding everything.

nothing wrong with that! skip white has some nice engines for the price, seem to have a decent warrenty.

maybe on the aircleaner spacer weld a small piece on to capture the normal piece that holds it steady....or possibly a notch....not sure how that particular air cleaner locates....

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
This spacer was plastic... I might just try to cut down an original, or take out the carb spacer. I used that to clear the Edelbrock fuel inlet and filter since they were bumping into the heater hose on the intake.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
good news, looks like i'll get 6 weeks off from my Master's program starting today (when I finish my final for Finance). Only two classes left and I have about $300 in the budget.
6 week plan (why bother right?) 1. finish cab (rockers, doors, rust repair) 2. purchase SS exhaust kit 3. focus on #1

Army wanted to pay for it so I figured I might as well. It gets more competitive towards the end of your career so every little bit helps too!

Good luck with that. Got mine from Elon May '09 - tough to balance everything but worth it in the end.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
well, not much to update as far as the truck goes but I did get my MBA finished up. That should free up a little free time this winter to finish up the rockers, cab corners, doors and other little parts of the cab.
Due to the National Guards mismanagement of field grade promotions I am forced to wait until next summer, or later, for my promotion to Major. I moved into the job last spring and will lose over $10,000 this year because of their problem. But I still have to do the job so no sense in whining about it... This extra money was going towards body and paint, promised by the wife, but will have to wait now. I did renovate the kitchen for her over the past 6 weeks so it should win me some "bonus points" to use in the garage this winter... 2st pic is how we bought it in 2006, 2nd is our semi-cleanup that we've had since then and now the final... spent about $3,000 to do it all, including granite.

Did you reface it yourself or hire someone to do the doors? 3K is a great deal for everything...especially since you used granite!!!

not much... I just worked three weeks straight so this was my first weekend in awhile... my promotion has been delayed because of HRO issues so no extra money rolling in for now.
