You are traveling the speed of light putting me to shame While your at warp speed I’m still arguing with myself about what I’m going to do first in what order at what time and why

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
Me: "I should really plumb those front brake lines"
also Me: "I know I'll go out and buy a '67 grille in the world's worst shape instead and speed this project up by also doing a slant nose swap" hey for $20 bucks I think I stole it! am I right fellas? |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
decided to remove the top bracket first, this one was screwed on, my '71 is riveted on
Top Tip: often times GM used flat head screws which you can't twist or hold with a flat screw driver after 50 years to undo, so you can either weld on a nut to the top of them screws or bugger weld a blob, I demonstrate both techniques below |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
and Robert is your mother's uncle
Fun Fact: use PB blaster and tighten a stubborn bolt if she won't come out just to get it to budge, once it does loosen a few turns then retighten don't just go for it to take it off, the heat will jam up the process |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
so correct me if I'm wrong but I am 71% sure that paint color schemes aside, all the GMC grilles, yes all of them from 67-72 are physically the same size and shape, and I am talking about the core big grille section that holds the headlight bezels
and the only difference between the slant nose era aka 67-68 ones and 69-70 is the top molding pieces and the bottom molding pieces the 67-68 had what I call a skirt on the bottom essentially sort of like a lip protruding outward from the core support to the front bumper, LMC calls it a bumper/radiator deflector |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
Greg, there is a YouTube on improving the HF sand blast pot. Mine works better with the changes. If I could remember them I'd tell you, but I've got oldtimers disease.
Nice work by the way.

upper control arm bump bumps
Fun Fact: only reason I opted to run sum is to keep the 2" lowering coil springs from falling out when jacking up the truck |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
so guess what? I'm redoing the driveshaft turns out the Lexus drive shaft has the center bearing support bracket on the wrong shaft (differential side instead of transmission side) so it aint gonna work out for me, so three drive shafts later...
I'm gonna post a video explaining all this so please stay tunned |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
so I thought I would clean up the center bearing drive shaft support cross member just a tad

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
ah yeah, I am not even kidding there were some things stuck so hard I could not get them off by hand using a putty knife nor a flat screw driver
