Re: 1968
Just setting around today. Done some yard work. Waiting for money to get here so I can start buying again. To hot to work but at least i can buy parts. get them ready to install when the weather is cooler. I am fabricating a filler panel for the grill to the radiator support. making it first out of cardboard. Then I will do it in metal. Let you guys know what it looks like.

I have a big piece of cardboard 3'x7' so I used that. I hope to get to the metal shop soon.

Re: 1968
Today I packaged some parts up that I sold. Also it was my birthday so I took it off. I will go to the parts place tomorrow and buy a red wire set for my new HEI distributor. I hope to find a 3'' air filter also. I have a stock 3'' but looking for something different. I like the way the purple ones look.

Well I finshed runing the brake lines to the rear. Here is the stuff I odered.
two rear mirrow arms. Black which I will paint orange. two small rear mirrow to fit on the arms. which I also will paint orange 1 chrome flasher knob for the column 1 set of red distributor wires for HEI 1 boe tie for the air filter chrome and red Thenut on top of the air filter is shaped like a bow tie. 2 rear brake lines for accross the rear end. They said they were two weeks out. So a little set back. 1 set of hold downs for the distributors wires.

Re: 1968
What do you mean by chrome and red bow tie for the air filter? I thought you already had an air filter.
I bet you'll be glad to get rid of the points. I know I will be with mine.

Re: 1968
well today I recieved my auto column for my old girl. Got it striped and painted gloss black.
My wires came in also and the Edelbrock valve covers. So I went to the Advance Auto Parts here locally and purchased a valve cover gasket set. I had a cork gasket set but was not in love with it. The one I got was cork and rubber conbinded. They said it was the a good one. My daughter got the wire set for me for my birthday. What a girl. She is my tom girl. She knows what her dad likes.

Re: 1968
The only thing I need now to start the truck is a wiring harness and a power steering pump. I have to adjust the valves on the engine. Maybe I will do that tomorrow. It is just time consuming. The engine has to be turned by hand. I guess I better go and find me a battery box. I will be needing one anyway. My old one was a little ate up. There was a board for the battery box tray ad bungey straps holding it together.

Re: 1968
No Brian I haven't looked for the carb. I been busy with other things. Like hanging a storm door and cutting grass and doing odd jobs for a lady in the church. I am caught up so I think I will do something on old patches. Yes I like the way the column turned out. The reverse switch and flasher knob got broken in transit to me.
How hard is it to switch the flasher knob. I ordered a knob. But the one I ordered screws in and I think the one that broke don't. Didn't do the valves today. Just to hot. The little flat piece of metal that covers the wires on the botton of the column was missing. I dug thru my pile of odd and ends and found one. So I am in busness again.

Re: 1968
It is very unfortunate that the non removable Hazard knob broke off durring shipping because there is no realistic way to repair it, you are going to have to replace the entire switch.
Classic industries should sell the version with the removable hazard knob, but I would call them and have them pull the part and verify it for you, it will take some time because they will have to pull the part and call you back but it's worth the wait. Classic Industries; part# 1997965 |
