up date: new glove box and emblem, new plate in the rear, sneak peak at what the wood will look like and the steering wheel.

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
I am going to restore the tricycle for the bed of the truck. The wood will look rustic. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
I think the wood finish will match very good with the black paint on the truck.....

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
IMO I think the wood will look out of place. The rest of the truck is pristine and to put wood in the bed that's rustic looking will clash with the cleanliness of the truck. If the truck was weathered or patina then it would fit the build.

Maybe some Ebony or Red Mahogany stain with about a gallon of automotive clear to make the wood look like glass. And stainless bed strips,... of course.

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
I like the rustic look, but maybe put a clear over it so that it shines
i really like the way the black highlights the grain and it is different!! I'd say keep it but make it shine like glass Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
I agree that the ruff cut might seem out of place. The rest of the truck is top notch the bed wood/finish needs to match.
Again splitting hairs here as the truck is plain sick..... Marc

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
The issue is the rough bed liner looks better in my opinion with the rough cut. I think the gloss will look out of place but I could be wrong

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
I thought you were going to do both? Rough cut and gloss clear?

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
Looking great. I agree leave the Rustic look with lot's of clear. Is that a hiawatha trike. I'm into collecting Prewar bicycles. Check out Thecabe.com when you get to restoring it. Lot's of good info and a parts for sale section

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build
I'll just say good luck, you've got a great eye for detail and finishing off the look. I think the ultra close up pic and the rough wood edge is complicating the decision. A clean metal edge and a pic further back will let everyone see the vision, no one will get that close to it.
I'm leaning towards smoother, but not raised. |
