Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
I have heard they do very nice work. Apparently they don't mind doing street/performance engines?

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Wrong truck update....
So, I popped in on Friday. Block is bored, just need to mock up for zero deck. "Hopefully this week" ugh!!! I've got a pile of parts here and another load of love shipped today. I should have everything except pushrods and pan gasket. I dropped the pan with the block for a bath and I don't know if I need thick or thin, using a one piece. Won't know pushrod length until I've got it assembled. Boy has seen them motors come in with a full set of them "expensive, non-oiling, adjustable" Pushrods! Could always go that route

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Seeing that pile of parts stashed on almost every square inch of available bench top reminds me of something Kathy is fond of saying... "We're gonna have so much room around here when the truck gets back together!"

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Bottom end is fit up and the cam checked. Spot-on 107 IC installed straight up. Note Knuckles "Saturday night exhaust hanger" I used for the timing pointer
Now to find that timing cover so I can file the button...

I'm glad to see you finally got the block back. Did you go with a zero deck or just a clean up?

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Still pecking away at life here. Got a few more pecks in on this motor for the wrong truck.
I had the block zero decked. With the 18cc pistons and 64cc chambers I should be 10.2ish. We ccd the chambers and they are as advertised. Pistons are cnc, so I believe they'd be the same. The Brodix heads aren't bolt on for steam holes. They say to use the 1004, pre-flattened head gaskets and punch 0.375 holes in them to line up the steam holes. Hmmm... I couldn't see how that would fly. I transferred the steam hole locations to the gaskets, drilled the gaskets, then transferred those holes to the heads. The goofy port shape in the heads is half-baked. The center ones were easy to drill but the outer ones partially intersected, so I opened those with a little rat-tail. Overall, a pain in the azz but they're on! Next move is to size up some pushrods, then I should be able to button this thing up pretty quick. Had to buy tires for the truck I'm supposed to be selling - ugh!!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
I'm with you, John, crutching the gasket doesn't seem like the wise choice. Gaskets have enough work to do as it is without removing even more material. What you did looks great. I bet this bullet will thump.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Another update on the wrong truck...
Measured up pushrods, got those, dialed in 14 valves, then came upon a short poly-lock in my rocker kit. Called Summit, replacement is on the way. Ran the pump and bled the thing out. Planted the intake, then went on to check distributor fit. Learned the hard way that big block and small block pump shafts are different lengths! Pan is coming back off. Ugh!!! There's other drama too. Just can't tell the story on this micro-puter thing. Should be noise in here soon...

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Looks great, John. Love the raw aluminum like the racing gods intended it to be. Too bad about the pump shaft. Hope you used a one piece rubber pan gasket.

Sure did Vic! The only way to go. Should be stuffing it in today. Knucks needs the stand for a build he's got ready as a side job.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Wrong truck runs, we'll ran. I preloaded them lifters 3/4 turn and it sounded like a loud sewing machine. I went through them again at the same setting, same deal until #7 exhaust lifter failed. Intake comes off tomorrow, ugh!! I believe I goofed at 3/4 turn with the 1.6 rockers. Hope it's not too ugly.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Hopefully nothing major! Never a good time when fresh parts fail. Im hoping to start a build thread of my own here shortly when I get to my cab. It is definatly not as solid as your was to start out with thats for sure!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
The 1.6 rockers should have no bearing on the amount of lifter preload. I would have gone 1/4 turn to start, but 3/4 should not have caused any problems. Did you have good oil pressure? Oil to the rockers? Were all the galley plugs reinstalled? That sucks having problems like that.
