Re: post up your camping pics
we're so busy at work right now i was only able to get a week off. and 1 day for loading and 1 day for unpacking left us 5 days, so we stayed close and went to Brook lake, 'bout 120 miles away.
it's a beautiful little lake but it's cool there, it's at the 5100 ft mark. at night it was dropping down to the high 30's. days were nice at around the mid 60's. two things about Brook, it's windy, and the skeeters are outrageous, unless the windy wind is blownin'. heading out came across this blackie Brook is a little ways out and doesn't see hardly anyone. suprisingly the road was great...prob thank the logging companies for that |

Re: post up your camping pics
there was this hole where we were staying. we hauled a bunch of water up from the lake to try make our own mud pit, but by the time we got the water up from the lake, a 1/4 mile away, it would just keep on soaking into the ground
the way down to the lake |

Re: post up your camping pics
we came across this one nasty stretch, which led to an interesting conversation wit my almost 16 yr old son.
i figured a vid of blasting threw it would look cool. so i gave my son the camera. then i remembered my son was born in '04, and my cam is an old '05 Canon. "you know how to video with my cam?" "yeah dad" "ok. you got it on video?" "yeah dad" "you sure it's on video?" "i'm not an idiot dad, i know what i'm doing" "ok" so i churn my way threw, even getting hung up on a big root, thinking, ya this should look good. ask my son to show me the playback, whoops, had the cam on the av button (cam settings)....... got a little filthy in there on a brighter note, new/used fridge works like a hot dam first time the new dogs ever been camping, so we figured we'd keep them in at night, cause they were wondering all over during the day laid out blankets on the floor for them Last edited by dieseldawg142; 07-11-2020 at 03:17 AM. |

Re: post up your camping pics
normally there is a island in the middle of the lake. right now the water is a little low....we rowed thru this grass. the water was about 4" deep
think we either scared or ticked off mr. loon, and hawk man kept on circling us |

Re: post up your camping pics
i think hawk guy was watching us cause Brook lake is full of rainbows. hardly anyone bothers going up there to fish. in about 4 hrs my son and me caught about 20 rainbows. like every 5-10 minutes we had a fish on. as Brook is a small lake, so are the trout. the majority of them were 6-8 inchers, but we did catch a few tens, couple of twelves and a 13 inch my son caught. we catch and release all, but kept the 13 my son caught, as he has never had fresh out of the lake rainbow trout

Re: post up your camping pics
an old cabin on the island on Brook
hauling the boat up after a good day fishin' dawgs were always alert for any wildlife. the second night a spike buck ran almost threw our campsite. surprised me and the wife as much as the buck. happened so fast did'nt get a chance to grab the cam. but this guy kept sneaking up to our camp when the dogs weren't looking |

Re: post up your camping pics
Here's some more from the desert trip. I'll post up a link to CK5 where I've got the full write up. All pics are remote linked so you don't have to be a paying member to see the images. But reposting it again is a chore I don't have time for right now, but it's there to read if you want to.
