thanks, so... so far I see only two [ahem] four issues, (edit, ha ha)
1. forgot to tighten the transmission fluid lines at the radiator and one leaked a bit, not sure if it matters which line goes to which trans cooler port, you tell me if it does 2. the steering column has a bolt on the coupler that sticks out too much and likes to tug on the #7 spark plug wire when I turn the steering wheel 3. there is a nasty mystery power steering fluid leak which was there even when the engine was sitting on my garage floor, I have not idea where it is coming from 4. the engine will not go into CLOSED loop when running even when its up to 190° F (well beyond the Closed Loop threshold) I think I got the wrong junk yard O2 sensors Last edited by Gregski; 07-16-2020 at 03:43 PM. |

Not sure if it matters on the cooler lines or not. I always stuck with the hot line going to the top port, the cold line going to the external cooler and then back to the trans.
Steering is overrated!

thanks, I can't wait to make a video of the first drive around the block, I just learned that she won't go to Closed Loop so I just ordered some new O2 sensors as the ones I have I got at some junk yard off of a 2001 truck and I think there was a significant change by 2004
once I get her dialed in I need to pull the wiring harness off for the 17th time and finally wire loom it and put some high temp tape on the section under the intake manifold and the crank position sensor leg and I hope the gods will smile upon me favorably and the hood hinge will clear the PCM in it's current location, keep your fingers and toes crossed |

so some gentle progress, I hooked back up the 3 wire oil pressure pig tail that originally LT1Swap.com has us delete it, and using HP Tuners I do get oil pressure values on a 2004, I am so happy
now just to see how to get the Insight CTS2 gauge to display it maybe it's as simple as yet another firmware upgrade, keep your toes crossed and yes I will also have a standard electronic oil pressure gauge in the dash as well as a coolant temperature gauge, this is more of a belt and suspenders approach and this multi digital display simply plugs in to the OBDII port so it is very portable and it's a nice way to see what values the PCM actually sees and compare those to what my auxilary gauges see Last edited by Gregski; 07-17-2020 at 09:28 PM. |

98-0? I think 04? oil pressure sender is direct to instrument cluster, it does not go through the PCM. I think if you have an oil temp sender then the oil pressure is also in the PCM, but for sure 0411 PCM the oil pressure is standalone.
3 wire is a good sign though! my 03 0411 is one wire

so exactly one month from today will be one year since my first post in this thread, so that is my new deadline to have her running and driving, now we know she starts already and sounds really smooth, but we still got a few pesky things to take care of to make her mobile
also this may sound like plenty of time, but keep in mind it is camping season and I have two trips coming up, so there will be no wrenchin' on those weekends Driving By August 18, 2020 |

but in the good news department, that OEM flex joint isnt really made to take that much angle anyway, even if it didnt hit you would wear the rubber out of it pretty quickly. get a real deal u joint for that, you may need a longer steering shaft too. I know the struggle! looking at your lengths you may be a candidate for a jeep cherokee (not grand cherokee, the early 80s-90s box) shaft, it has u joints at both ends and a slip shaft, it may be just right and has u joints at both ends. I know you have a camaro clip but the principle and most importantly the DD and splines are the same. those cherokees are all over my local craigslist from the 4x4 guys, parting them out. EDIT: HAHA I just realized the video says grand cherokee. so I guess that too.
