Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
I've made some pics of the striping, in case of interest
I know it isn't truck related, but this is what I love to do... Pic #1 is the car, 1948 Plymouth, chopped...

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
No updates, but I decided to go on airride.
Main reason was the sloppy rear coilovers. I did calculate some things and the outcome was that a complete airride was about $250 over only adjustable coilovers in the back. The airride would be on all corners and all are switched independent. There is no bolt on kit for Jags, so I have to make it myself. I emailed a few people around the world, they all been a great help, but I have to find out myself how to get it in. Well, that's Hot Roddin', aint it I ordered two Double Neede gages, four universal On-Off-On momentary switches, four 3 position 5 way solenoids, a pressure relief valve and an electric pressure on-off switch for the compressor. When this is inhouse, I'll get the rest such as compressor, airtank, airlines and air bags. All these I will buy in Holland, things I already ordered come from overseas. Hope to have it all ready and working before our trip to the UK. In the meantime I finished the '48 Plymouth. Only thing left to do is probably the fenderskirts. They are at the painter, when they are ready, I don't know. I have some pics of the trunk, I post them this evening.

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Aluminum is not that bad to weld (just keep it clean!)

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Thanks guys!!
The bottom of the toolbox exists out of two plates, TIG welded. The Floor itself is revited in (is this English ?? ) My buddy with the '48 Plymouth welded it, my TIG machine only has DC current, for TIG you need AC current.

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
We're on it again!!
This time it's sorting out the airride. Front axle shouldn't be a problem, drill the springcone out, make a new lower bagmount and your ready to go...so they say We'll see if that's true. I started today with dismanteling the Jag suspension, took the springs out and made a few templates for the rear bags. They have to go on the outside of the frame, so I've got to re-route the entire exhaust, bummer..... Question: If I dump the exhaust gasses in front of the rear axle, would it be much louder then? I now have a double system with H-pipe and mufflers at the very back, it is a nice rumbling sound, not hard, but a deep tone. Pic#1- I managed it to get it up high with no trouble Pic#2- The Jag IRS with full suspension on... Pic#3- The Jag IRS suspension without the coilovers, not much room for bags though.. Pic#4- How I undo the front LCA of the springplate, I find this easier then a bolt through the middle of the spring as Jag says.(pics is on it's side )

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
also not available for Land/Range Rover? seeing they used a lot of parts from Jag, maybe an easier conversion

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Correct, but they don't have IRS like this.
I think I already figured it out....

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
If you dump your exhaust under the truck you will get a drone more than a rumble and it will be louder.

Thanks Dan!!
I wouldn't say that myself.... Thank you Lower. I can live with a bit louder, but don't like the drone..

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Busy sorting out airride on the Jag IRS.
Made some templates and had them laser cut. All fits nice, now I can put the parts in the right model and bolt it together. Weld some brackets on the framerails and we're good to go I wish it was that easy.... On the front I saw a little rust hole where the springcup meets the IFS. So to prevent any damage later on, I changed my plans. I'm gonna make an extra plate on the IFS and bolt a springplate to it. You see it when I come to that. I'm now three days in the airride work and it almost goes to plan Pic#1- freshly cut parts, to be remodelled a bit... Pic#2- had to cut a piece of the hubcarrier away to make room for the bag. To be continued..
