Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Worked on the '62 today - the '64 hasn't made any progress since I got it stripped to the frame, and I needed to work on something I could feel good about!!!
Tore the steering column apart to replace horn/signal switch and harness. Turns out (aside from the switch having disintegrated from age) that the PO had cut the wiring harness for an unexplained reason and tossed half of it. Now my horn works. Lights don't work, but everything is good at the switch... Got the side window installed (previous passenger window broken out thanks to kids with rocks). Replaced the choke cable and made some necessary adjustments. Starts WAY easier now. Pulled the grille and bumper for a swap. Attempted to install a different grille on her, then discovered (thanks to some help from this site) that the grille I had was for a large truck, not a pickup, so she's faceless...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I spent yesterday driving from Atlanta GA to Baton Rouge LA to pick up a SWB 4x4 frame from board member 62 short step. Today I picked it up and tomorrow I drive back. Great to meet another board member.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Looked for the vin number tags with no luck. Now after getting out of the shop I found the replies to my thread asking about this issue, so I should be able to find the number later on tonight or tomorrow. I also pulled the front wheels off so I could swap the flat tires out for an old set of rollers I had laying around. Now at least she will roll without firing up the compressor every time. I have to wait until I get the paperwork going before I get too involved in tearing her apart though.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I curled one of my lower control arms. Not a good thing, there was a steel plate in the road (Construction) and I nailed it. Sounded like a big gong and the truck almost came to a complete stop. Luckily I didnt twist anything or lose anything but I did manage to bend under my loweer control arm.
Lesson learned- Pick up the truck before you drive it!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
After searching for over a year, i finally found a world class T-5 transmission from a v-8 camaro. 2.95 first and a nice tall .063 overdrive. this was like the hardest thing to get my paws on for my truck. Will bolt right in to the 62.

It's not "wasted time" if it is what you wanted to do.

fitting my 69 rear end up to my 64, started to mount up the rear mounted gas tank, bought few small parts, nuts bolts, gaskets, etc, bought rear notch, rear drop springs(5 inch) rear drop shocks, started to fab up rear drop blocks ( 3 inch blocks) pulled cover off of rear end and filled her up with some good ol' oil. looked at a new fleetside box all good metal. installed my kick ass gun mounts! HAHA. starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Went out to the shop this morning and found my vin number. After looking at some of the decoders in this site I learned my truck is actually a 1965 C-10.
