Re: LFD's low buck truck build!
Kevin were you taking the back way to Napa? I like that road! I've used it a lot going home from a job in Napa when I80 is a parking lot.
I'm going to drop a 91 350 / 700R4 (camaro) in my 71 pickup as the 400 SB is about to explode. Do you know what I need for a trans mount / Xmember? |

Also I will have some up-dates today on this truck as it will be getting Bear's drilled and slotted rotors with dual piston calipers up front! Pic's to follow. I now have over 16,000 miles on this truck and it has been a blast and except for some alternator troubles in the beginning , it has been worry free. I just beat on it too hard for the stock brakes so time for an up grade. Kevin LFD Inc. Last edited by Rokcrln; 11-20-2009 at 12:34 PM. |

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!
Well wouldn't you know it that as soon as I was half way done with the front brakes it starts to just dump down rain. But I stuck with it and got them done and solved a few small problems along the way. First one was the mounting bracket needed just a small amount of adjusting in the opening to allow the caliper to move once it was bolted in place. I just took a grinder with a 24 grit disk and lightly went over the area to remove a small amount of material on the top and bottom bracket. Then the next problem was my rims (6.5" van rims) hit the caliper so a small mount of grinding mainly on the one bolt head was all that was needed.
I then went for a test drive and brake in run and the results are still out. I did about 20 miles with the first 5 miles being 35mph to 5 mph brake checks and the last 15 miles just regular driving. They started working much better and by the time I got back home they felt real good but with the wet roads I could not really push it yet. Here are a few pic's. Kevin LFD Inc. 2 houses ago I only had a small garage so I had two 20' awnings from Costo on the side of my house with 5gal buckets of concrete tied to each post. I came home from work one day to find the covers on my neighbors roof! The wind was so bad that day it broke all the tie down rope and lift off was achieved. Kevin LFD Inc. |
