Looking good! I went to the shop this morning myself and got a little done. It was cold though.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Thanx Guyz...

No time today for the truck... but I did get to help the boy service his Volvo and also helped future son-in-law move some furniture, then while having the use of my neighbors trailer, I finally hauled my ratrod project home...

Here's a couple of trucks that were at my friend's place… he just traded a 65 Chevy station wagon for the green GMC and the old GMC is a future project…

Here's a few shots of the ratrod project, quick plan is to build and flip to fund my Garage...

Nice pic Don.

Where is that classic kids kart body?

Maybe someone has an old pedal car chassis laying on a scrap heap that you can graft in under it??

You could age the whole "modern" frame to have similar patina.

FULL BUILD THREAD HERE

http://retrorides.proboards.com/thre...rt-resto-rider

Hope you don't mind, but thought I would post up some pics of one I restored 3 years ago.

A friend has rescued the pedal kart in the pics below.

It is a Kettler , and they seem to be the Bee's knees of these type karts. Let me know if I am wrong.

This one looks and is as bad as it looks, but his boy has absolutely fallen in love with it.

The steering is buggered, brakes non-existant and clearly, paint and rust are issues too.

That said, he wants me to see if I can resurrect it, as he had saved it from the crusher, and as I said to him, if I had seen it on a trip to the tip, it would have found its way into my car for sure.

IT WENT THROUGH QUITE A LOT OF EFFORT TO GET TO THIS POINT......

The other stickers came from my collection of allsorts.

You will notice, the colours are Sinclair Oil Corporation colours.....

So if you had any chassis like this to modify and build in under the body, it could be perfect.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

So today started off cutting the P/S Box Adapter from the bent frame, then
dropping the '85 front crossmember...
Then with the help of my future Son-in-Law, we rolled the bent frame outta the way, then we rolled in the straight frame, dropped the '65 Crossmember and positioned the frame over the '85 Crossmember...
Of course we had the Grandson Supervising!!!

Front cross member slide in pretty easy? I'm using a '79. One drilled hole on each side.
Looking really good there Don.

Easy fit… other than getting some assistance in dragging the frame into place, this was a one man job. On mine however, I have to drill one hole on each side, elongate one hole on each side, and drill a hole to properly mount the newer Center-Link.

Yessir, gotta clean and paint this frame before re-assembly begins...

Thanks Mate!!! I will post a similar pic once i trade out the rear-end… I'm aiming to have a bit of rake...
Need to remove the trailing arm set-up from the bent frame and use it to replace the leaf spring set-up… I've already had the GM 12 Bolt axles re-worked into the five lug set-up and the Dana rear-end on the GMC has different rear axles... No worries just gotta grind a bunch of rivets and buy suitable Grade 8 hardware to re-install on the straight frame.
