Re: 58 GMC Project

Hey Cal,

Sorry to hear about your troubles making it down. I think your truck would have been among the top ones there, and it would have to great to meet you. The only one I met was Tri5nerd (nice guy). I also saw to forum members I met at the So Cal forum get together (also nice guys). We were all looking for you, then Tri5nerd told me what happened to you. Sorry to hear that buddy.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Okay, here the latest up date to my truck I was planning on showing to everyone who was at Brothers. I bought No Limit's tilt hood kit and had it all chromed. I realy like the way the hood fits and shuts The only part I don't care for is it has a hood support rod to keep it from going all the way foward. Here's a few pics.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Nice touch Cal.
I've been hoping they would put one out for the 58-59 trucks.
Brothers use to list it for 55-59 but an e-mail confirmed it was only for the more popular 55-57 p-ups.

Thanks 55Chevy! My paint guy did not cut and polish under the hood, but still don't look to bad.

Yep it's for 55-57 only witch is a bummer for all the four lighters. You would think thay would start working on a kit for the 58-59 truck since there are almost just as many of them.

Cal, nice ride. I made an electric tilt hood kit for my 63c10. I was a pain. Your truck is very very nice. That is something to be proud of.

I gave it some thought to using actuators for the tilt but it does seem like it would take some engineering to get it all to work right. By the way welcome!!

Re: 58 GMC Project

Hey Bernie,

It was a bummer missing the Brothers show for sure. Good Guy's has a show in the fall at Pleasanton fair grounds I'm going to try and make. This time I’ll make sure my tow vehicle is tuned and ready to tow. Thanks for the compliments on the hood.

I didn't know it was published yet, thanks for letting me know! They took the pictures last March.

I went to the store to buy up a few copies, but it was not on the shevels. What month's issue is it in? I found a Sept, 2008 issue but it had a 47 Chevy on the front. Damn I won't one

P.S., It's not that I did want to share, it's just I wanted to make sure it was going to make it first. But know that it's out I can share a few of the photos the photographer Rick Amado gave me.

Was it a silver and purple '47? I went on Classic Trucks website and that was the main feature that was on there. It must be the old one.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Well lets all say congrats to Cal for making the cover. I get them mailed and it says October 2008, you would think they would mail you a copy when you make the cover. The cover and a feature is a big deal to me. I guess they mail them in advance to subscribers.
