All good ideas! I'll mess with it a little bit, but before long I'll likely buy one of the factory refurbished Holley Street Demon off of their ebay store. You can get them for $200 and they are completely gone through and restored to factory condition. In fact most of them never had anything wrong to begin with but people sent them back from not knowing how to set them up. I have one on my LS swapped 79 and I love that thing!

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Holly is definitely a little harder to set up than the edelbrocks. But you get used to what you normally run and have to work on. Mine I put in the spring needle and seats and the correct jets and havnt had a problem in 20 years. I'm pushing toward putting a stand alone injection system on next. Like holly projection setup. Seems like a very simple install and runs off of internal sensors. Either way fix it up and enjoy. Mine was down with many mods for a few years and I couldn't enjoy driving it and it really slowed my progress down.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I definitely agree with you on the difficulty of the Holleys! I fought a Quick Fuel carb for weeks on my K10. The newer Street Demons are a different animal entirely though. Kind of a bastard stepchild of an Edelbrock, Thermoquad and Quadrajet. Really easy to set up and great throttle response.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

That's cool. I'm just cheap and would try a rebuild in what I had first. Lol. But you can always sell The edelbrock and put the cash toward what you want in there.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here is a 1972 Highlander on the Atlanta Craigslist. I would like to see how the seat looks under the cover. The truck looks pretty original.
Still hoping to see the package code on an Atlanta SPID at some point. Here is the link:

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Not to be too hard on this truck, but "typical truck that needs rockers replaced" seems awfully optimistic. By looking at the pics, the rocker rust is probably into the floors a bit as well. The doors bottoms, cab corners and fenders all need work. All adds up to a lot of work and $$.

Another EBay Highlander on sale now with a lot of the Highlander identifiers gone. If you look at the spid pic it shows "Orange Plaid Trim"

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here is one on Craigslist. Athough no spid it has all the telltale signs of a Highlander and the black and white is cool and to me and I would think it should have been ordered with the grey plaid but blue would have been okay too. I feel a little pricey for what is there.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

First post on here. Trying to figure out exactly how my 1972 Blazer looked from the factory. Wanting to start the process of getting it back to original. It looks like I have an all white exterior, white top with orange Highlander interior. Does anyone have an example of how that interior: seats, trim panels, dash, etc would have looked? Thanks!

Thanks for the link. Nothing on my Blazer is original...so photos wouldn't be be very helpful. Other than to laugh at. I'm pretty much needing everything interior wise. At some point in its life it was covered in a bad flame paint job.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Welcome aboard. Soon all this searching will be second nature.

Your truck is a Cheyenne so it would have had the vinyl scroll interior. The plaid interior was in the Highlander package.

The SPID picture thread might help.

The spid information says 686 trim which is the Orange Plaid Seats for a Blazer. Not all Highlanders had the YG6,YG7 or YG8 Package.

That's what I was thinking. Would it have had the scroll on the vinyl sections of the seats?

This is why I'm looking for a visual frame of reference. The interior was completely painted over as well. It no longer has the original seats. New to old chevys, so I'm trying to get a better understanding of the package options.

It might be a bad flame job but it looks straight and a decent start. Very nice find. Thanks for the pic.
